Any clue where the fonts_base folder is

Markus referred me to the fonts_base folder in his response about fonts not changing in the game. My fonts folder does not have the Barlow font, and the game does not change over when I select the option in the game to change fonts. And I can't find the folder to which he referred me.

Markus tested it and said it works fine so I'm wondering if I don't have all the correct fonts. Wondering if I don't have the fonts because the download link didn't include them in installation.

I tried to change fonts too (just to check out all the options). No dice. It remains in default font regardless of what font you try to set it to.

Are you guys restarting the game after you change? That is required in order for the change to take effect.

I did when I tried it. No dice. It's no biggie as I don't mind the default. I'd just like to check out the other fonts.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I should have mentioned in my initial response yet I did restart the game after selecting a different font.

It’s not a dealbreaker but I always like to try out different fonts and I was hoping to do that without having to manually switch out fonts. I’m also trying to get the mods to see this is something in the game not working as intended.

It doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the game. It’s a slick, great-looking version and I can’t wait to dive in even more.

Normally it is in the default data folder. You can open the game, settings dialog, troubleshooting tab and then click the button "Open folder containing default data".

It's weird that you cannot change fonts... have you tried starting the game as admin? (Right-click on the shortcut -> Run as adin)

That said, Markus, I don't see that font_base folder in my setup, either. (The highlighted folder is my own custom stuff for an historical league.)

Yeah, it's not is the custom data folder, my bad. It's in the default folder... I think it's where the .exe is located, and there in the \data folder IIRC.

Yes, here it is in the usual place. Now, if users see this array of fonts, they ought to be able to change them, correct? The reason I am saying this is, when I go to change fonts, I don't see any difference really, even after restarting the game, except between condensed and regular versions of the fonts.

Ok, this looks wrong. In the font_base folder there should be 6 sub folders, one for each font.

Edit: You are looking at the wrong folder. Check font_base not fonts. When you want to replace the font, copy the files from inside one folder of font_base (eg. all files inside font2) into the \fonts folder

Well, this is what the root folder looks like. I did the installation by default, no changes. Maybe other folks can take a look and confirm that this is what they are seeing? (Windows 8.1, by the way).

OK, this is indeed a bug, the eSeelerate installer does not contain the extra fonts. Will be fixed in patch 1 next week

The Steam & Origin versions will have the extra fonts, though.

Hey, guys, thanks so much for your continued attention to this. I'll check it out again when the first patch comes out.

I've changed the fonts in the game for years and usually know where they are. So that's why I thought it was odd that I didn't see the new fonts, and why I thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. I thought maybe something had changed on the font locations.

I hated to be a pest, but thanks for not writing me off on this. The attention and care Markus, Matt and the other OOTP developers and admins pay to feedback from customers is incredible and much appreciated.

EDIT: And, I agree with Déjà Bru and actionjackson that it's not a big deal. Just my curiosity in trying out new features got me interested.

Well, you're not a pest in my book. I was wondering the same thing when I went to tinker with the fonts a bit and was getting negligible results. Thanks for bringing this up.
