I'm talking about his tweet comparing Muslims to Nazis. That's why he was fired. That's the last I'm going to say on this, though. Didn't really mean to start a debate.

Not defending him, just clarifying the statement. There is a difference and that's a common misconception. And also, the Muslim thing was a warning. The transgender thing was what got him fired (he said he didn't care whether someone called themselves a man or a woman or whatever, but if they had male parts, they should use the bathrooms with urinals) Again, not taking a side, but stating facts for the sake of clarity. This should not be a place for opinions. |

Interesting topic.
Team: Anyone who is playing the Tigers that night. Players: Unfortunately too many to name! As I get older it gets harder for me to root for these guys that always seem to turn out to be really bad human beings. I know that is an exaggeration and there are good guys out there, just seems hard to find. I especially despise the fan base in my town that will overlook some really bad stuff as long as they are producing on the field. cough...cough Miggy... Then again I'm part of the problem cause I love watching the game. |

The OP asked what teams and players people hated. That is an opinion, for which we are all entitled. I chose not to participate because "hate" is a violent term. Your post needs correcting. For the record I found Mr Schilling a complete gentleman and a fine poster on these forums but his non-forum public posts revealed him as a complete dolt, racist, and science denier for which most any employer would have found them difficult to ignore and which eventually got him fired. It's not a difficult thing to avoid making your employer notice controversial posts. Just shut up. He was the author of his own demise.

I hope someone cancels this thread. Political BS should not be allowed, at least here. Keep politics out of sports.
Should I put #MAGA...no I shouldn't. P.S. I love baseball |

Teams: Yankees, Yankees, and Yankees!
Players: Active - Ryan Braun, All-Time - Barry Bonds. Only two players I ever booed. As a Pirate fan I am one of the few that didn't Bonds way back during his Pirate days and was glad to see him go. |

Good decision
Dislike is okay, but there should be no place for hate

Yankees
I hated Jeter for a long time. I've always thought he was over rated. Mike Mussina also makes the hated list. A-Rod, too. |

I forgot about Braun. He would be number one on my list for how he attacked the tester/result handler when he knew he was guilty.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. I am fine with opinions. In fact, I love opinions and even having heated political discussions. However, I know that the moderators want to avoid having us debate off-field type stuff like politics, so that was me trying to respect that. Also, we all knew what he meant by "hate". It's just an expression. When I say that I hate the Yankees (which I proudly say), that simply means that I hope that they lose, especially to my Red Sox. It does not mean that I wish any actual real life turmoil on any Yankees players or would even show them any disrespect. I simply root against them the hardest. Our language is imperfect in its expression...the very reason I say, "I love my wife and children" and "I love a good cheeseburger". I used the verb love both times, but I don't think I need to clarify that my feelings toward them are quite different. The responsibility in language is not just on the speaker to be as clear as they can be but also on the hearer to best determine what the speaker meant. Ironically, that's one of the ways we keep from actually hating each other, trying to show mutual respect. |

I said I was done commenting on this, but want to back track what I said just a bit. I don't actually hate anyone either. I was asked why I didn't like Schilling and I didn't want to ignore the question so I answered. I should have just said non baseball reasons and left it at that. I am not a political person at all and it was not my intent to start a debate. If Schilling ends up in the HOF, then great, good for him.
For teams, I said Red Sox and Cardinals, but those are basically teams I really don't want to see win. I like individual players on those teams. I'm a fan of Mookie Betts and I follow Adam Wainwright and Dexter Fowler on Twitter and they seem like really good dudes. |
