HELP !! I have no more new players appearing in my first year player draft !!
A Random Debut Historical League, which has gone successfully for six seasons, suddenly does not provide any players for the scheduled first year player draft. I have it set to 8 rounds, but none appear. The Draft Pool announcement has the usual chatter but lists no names.
I fast-forwarded two seasons in a row to get to the draft and still no players. I like this league, it has 6 years of history starting in 1901 (with 1986 perpetually set as the historical year) - Mike Donlin winning 5 batting titles in six seasons, several different world champions repeating once and then falling out of contention, Ty Cobb and Ted Williams competing to be the best player in the NL as their Orphans and Reds compete for first place. I would like to continue it. What might I have done wrong? Is there any way to save it? Why do no more new players appear? Thanks for any help that may be suggested here. |

I had this problem.
Try the following: Game Settings < League Settings < Rules. Uncheck the box "Disable Automatic Creation of Fictional Free Agents and Draft class". Depending upon where you are in playing the game relative to the draft date, it may be necessary to change the amateur draft pool revealed date and the amateur to a latter date. I discovered the problem on the day of the draft. Changed the dates to 10 days later in the season and the problem was fixed. You could also control-alt-delete to return to an earlier save. Depending on when the date of the earlier save you could uncheck the box and not have to change the dates. But, then you have to replay any games lost. Hope this helps. |

Thank you CraigBShuman. My one concern is that the solution might mean getting fictional, instead of historical players in the draft. But I will try it, as in any case it is solve the problem or the league is trashed anyway.
Appreciate it. I will let you know how it goes. |

You may be able to get around the fictional player aspect by checking the box for "automatically import historical rookies" from Historical settings screen. Try the path the Game Settings < League Settings < Historical.

IT WORKED !! Thanks so much. I thought a league I had finally settled on to play through more than a century had been fried. For some reason, "Import Historical Rookies" was unclicked, and so whenever I ran the draft, it would automatically unclick "enable amateur draft". It only worked when I unclicked the "prevent fictional players" but then I erased all of those, tried again but still nothing. It was the "import historical rookies" that was somehow unclicked all the time.
I did have to burn through 4-5 seasons before solving the problem, but so it goes, that part of league history and accomplishments and stats will remain, but no permanent damage to record books. Some of the teams are depleted of players, so I will run one draft with a few more rounds than usual, than go back to 8 for next year. Many thanks CraigBShuman. ! |

always make a backup before testing
![]() i'd even use a restored copy for the testing so as to avoid any artifacts being left behind. |
