Player Agents

I was just wondering if there were any plans to ever include player agents in the game going forward?

Similar to the personalities, I could see a model where some agents are quick to get their players signed; whereas others are out maximize the AAV, while others may try to get a longer term...

It could also make the arbitration process a lot more interesting (i.e. some agents will recommend their clients go to arbitration no matter what).

What do others think?

Now THIS would be an interesting addition. Much more than someone's suggestion of adding base coaches.

Although I think this may be solved a little bit by the Greed listing

It is an interesting concept but I have two concerns:

1. How difficult is it to code - I would not want it to bump other improvements.

2. I am afraid it would be a little too random. I'm not sure how to control that, but that is one of the things that bothers me about the morale - it just seems so random.

I agree that it's somewhat handled by Greed, but I could also see it as more than that - almost like a multiplier effect. Who would you draft - the 5 tool player who is greedy and has a really tough agent; or the next best guy who is also greedy but has a more team-friendly agent....

I have no idea what coding would be required, although I can already see a lot a negative comments about having agents the same way there are complaints about personalities todayhttp://1865987047.rsc.cdn77.org/boar...lies/wink2.gif

Given how great and realistic the game is already, it's just another dimension that I would add to my nice to have list!

But isn't that basically modeled already, with signability rating?

I wold see it as making it a bit deeper than simply meeting the player demand...

I have no idea of the coding involved, but you could ultimately have an Agent <-> GM rating, where agents may prefer GMs that they have dealt with in the past (i.e. meeting player expectations for playing time; ease of contract negotiations/extensions, etc.)

For years, the Blue Jays had an unwritten policy of never signing Scott Boras clients; and given the way the free agent market has gone this year, I was just thinking that having agents in the game would add another level.

when negotiating contracts you are dealing with the agent anyways. It would be more or less a cosmetic thing ... at least my opinion anyways

the agents work for the players making it always their decision so I agree it would basically only be cosmetic...but one thing I would say is that I would love to be the agent in an Agent Mode. That would be fun.
