Personality change?
I recently signed a RP because he was a 'Prankster' (& good). he is no longer considered a Prankster & my team has one of the better records in baseball, success isn't a problem.
does a player's personality randomly change?

I don't know if this exactly the case, but to me it appears to be...
Yes, it definitely does change. I think as player mature it gets better. Or at the very least, the examples I have seen change were based of maturing with age. |

it can go both ways... likely team chemistry and other factors paly a role.
except for TCR (if it applies), changes should be slow over time. 1-2pts at a time. if a "personality class" changes, that could be from a "-1", if they are borderline. scouting accuracy also could be a factor. you tend to be more accurate with MLB players on your team vs. other teams, **this 2nd part is an educated guess. if that's not true, accuracy between minors and mlb and ??? can causes this situation to occur, regardless. this is why i try to keep mil players in ST until april 1st scouting report before sending back to MiL scouting rules. accuracy of mlb scouting > MiL scouting @ same budget and $$$. that's for sure. |

thanks!
it's a little odd. this is his first year, 2nd best record in baseball (100 win season easily) & about 2/3rds through he lost his Prankster status. only 26. I manage every game so usage is good. maybe the scouting report changed? I put very little in Int FA scouting. sucks. I really wanted a Prankster.

having the label may or may not provid some added benefit... however, the guy still has high handle "..." and decent work ethic / low controversy or whatever adds up to "Prankster"
it's very possible the label doesn't mean anything on its own. Anyone with these quality has similar effects on the "drop in a bucket" description of team chemistry as well as individual morale effects. based on last reply i'd wager it's a -1 to one of the requirements or some small change like that. he was borderline and could tick back up by end of year too. even with out the label fo prankster he has a good personality. |

and, i could be wrong, maybe there is a bonus for a "label" etc.. but it's still likely to be a smaller factor vs. the overall mechanics in this context.
certainly not a factor to overcome a drastic ratings difference etc. i'll take a malcontent that hits .300+ and .600slugging any day. he will be worth more than any player with "Captain" next to their name that can't hang statistically. (no small difference, no idea where the break-even would be, but the relationship exists.) |

a few days before the postseason, he is back to Prankster.
you nailed it, must have been a very small change. he's right on the edge I guess.
