Game Crashes Nearly Every SIM

Have used OOTP for years. Over 11 years to be exact.

OOTP 18 has crashed during games and SIMs nearly every time the past month.

This is getting old.

Please address my technical issue.

I can definitely help, but I'll need some more info.

When is it crashing and where? Do you get a specific error message?

What OS are you using, and what are your system specs? What programs do you have running at the same time as OOTP? Also, what are your system's specs and are you using the Steam or standalone versions of the game?

Did anything major change on your system around when you noticed the crashing start? New OS, OS update, new firewall, new anti-virus, new hard drive etc.

Typically speaking the game is pretty stable and it should never really crash, much less do so constantly. From what you've described, I'd guess there's another program running or something going on with your system that's somehow interfering with the game and creating the crashes.

To try to narrow down what might be causing problems, try the following: First make sure to create an exception or whitelist OOTP in your anti-virus and firewall programs. Then restart your computer. Then shut down everything non-essential that's running other than OOTP. Then start OOTP up and try playing for a while and see if it still crashes in the same places and with the same frequency.

If not, then you'll basically just want to play the game without anything else running in the background, since one of those programs was likely causing issues with the game.

If it still crashes, then let me know, along with the answers to the questions above and we'll go from there.
