Development Question
With recalc turned off, I assume that historical players are going to develop randomly (plus based on coaching and other factors). Does being a great player in history have any impact on that? Let's say that 23-year-old Steve Garvey and 23-year-old game-generated never-real Randy McRanderson have identical ratings right now. Is Garvey at some advantage because he was 1) real and 2) turned into a great player?
I've read the manual on Player Development. I'd just like to hear from experiences how it has played out. |

it impacts their initial ratings, but hten the forces will play out in proper proportion but random nature.
so, options that pertain to how their potential is calculated is still controlled by history, so to speak... peak year vs career average etc. will have a drastic impact on ratings. then, TCR, aging, development forces will act upon them in their own unscripted way. as far as you example, no way to know for sure. even if exactly the same, they could turn out drastically different. what you'll more likely see is that Garvey, if cloned 10 times, will have 10 different careers no matter what you name him. at least 1 is likely to be very different, i'd be comfortable wagering on that. @ 23 years old, less volatility than cloning an 18 year old. avoiding large portion of development, most likely... avoiding a layer that causes differences. Is what you're saying that (in this case) Garvey's potential will continue to go up in accordance with history, but if he ever fulfills that potential is up to the mentioned factors?

if that's what your settings do...
garvey's potential is set 1 time without recalcing.... so, i mispoke a bit, my bad. not a big historical player. wehther you selcted average or peak year for basis is a 1-time thing when player is introduced/created and no recalcing used. it only sets his potential... it says nothing about him reaching it. (that's just one way differences can arise from cloning him or making identically rated palyers.) i'm aslo assuming he's not ~fully developed... even so, differences will arise over time. "Steve Garvey" means nothign... the values you see for work ethic, intelligence, potential etc etc is what matters... the name means nothing. (** potential unseen factors, even with comissioner mode on ** can't be certain they do not exist without great effort **) Last edited by NoOne; 01-08-2018 at 05:14 PM. |
