Vesting Option

So a pitcher on my fictional team has a vesting option. It states "4th year is a vesting option, requiring 50 IP" Does that me that in season 3 he needs to pitch at least 50 innings to get that 4th year contract?

Oh ok thanks. Well if I can't get rid of his contract i guess i'll just have to make sure he doesn't play 50 innings in his 3rd season. He's an over paid bum at the moment.

Exactly! I had an aging SP that was far too highly paid and had a vesting option for $14,000,000 for the next year that kicked in if he had 15 GS.

I solved that by making him a reliever!

I then had the option of resigning him for $1.5 mill.
