Managers retiring?

How old do managers in OOTP usually manage until? When they reach that age, what happens? Do they retire? And if so, are their stats still accessible?

Also, another side note, I have a fictional league and I love the idea of players retiring and then coaching, so I have that option checked. However, I found that after a few years, I had WAY too many free agent managers. I had to go in and delete a bunch so that I could keep track if any of my retiring players became managers. Anyone else have this issue?

For the "what happens' question - I get a message in my mail telling me that a manager is retiring.
For the "how old" question - I haven't keep records so anecdotal evidence is all I have and that anecdotal evidence is that the age is random.
I don't believe stats are still accessible once they retire.

Interestingly, there's no "Retire Coach" button like there is for players, probably because stats aren't tracked

yeah, i'd like to be able to retire my mini-me coaches i make on command. it's definitely random. is there a delete option? i forget. could remove the 0years unproven ones without hurting history.

i'm fairly sure success can even hasten it under certain circumstances...

in the past it worked differently but i think it's still an effect. i've seen a manager retire after winning a bunch of WS in a row at a very young age and ~10 years exp give or take. maybe that was "one-time" glitch that a patch nipped too or just a change in how it works over time.

i don't see that anymore.. at least 2-3 years?

you can keep a coach alive and kicking. just don't let them reach too old of an age. i don't think years of experience is a huge factor anymore, but possible too.

with my current and likely last league of ootp18, i decided to keep my mil managers alive for the duration (a little late for a couple). i liked the coach history info - RS/RA etc and easy to find. by age 53-54, or so, i lop a decade off of their age. haven't had one retire, yet. i was worried about experience at one time, but that's reached ~40+ years on a couple of them at the moment.

1 of the guys had 20 straight GCL 1st place finishes (no playoff, and 30 teams 1 division in my minors. so, easier than it sounds + i have 1/2 the lower level mil teams compared to ai and get to consolidate talent more.) *rookie league isn't so glamourous, but the AAA guy did quite well for over a decade too at one point.

so, success, at least at minor league level, isn't a deal breaker either.

seems to be just age at this point. odds just get higher as they age. i bet a low-50ish year old could retire too, despite my luck so far.

my best guess age 60+ % of retiring starts increasing significantly to the point you should expect it / plan for it in some way. they defintiley don't all get to "65".

my last mini-me retired at 63 after 24 years. after the 2040 season. (62 or 63, one of the two)
