Spring Training

I ask for this every year. Might as well do it again. I'd love to see Spring Training more fleshed out. Designated facilities, split squad games (we have double headers now so this should be possible), and most important coaching. Spring Training is where a pitcher tries to improve his third or fourth, or even fifth pitch. Spring Training is where we can try to teach a fielder a new position or a hitter how to pull. None of these outcomes should be assured. that would not be realistic. But it would be cool to ask your pitcher to focus on his splitter with a chance (weighted by work ethic for example) it will improve. Or even learn a new pitch.

I'd also love to see a minor league camp. After all the whole organization is in camp at the same time. Spring Training is where the minor leagues fight for jobs.

I thought this was added but I couldn't find it in 18 so let me add it here...Spring Training invites as non-roster invitees? I guess I could technically accomplish the same thing with a minor league contract offer but would be ideal to offer a spring training invite with major league contract terms if the player makes the 25 or 40 man roster or something like that

Any minor league player not on the 40-man roster can be put on the 60-man ST roster. So any FA you can sign to a minor league contract is invitable with no roster complications.

True...and that's what I've been doing. And maybe what I have in mind doesn't really happen in IRL, but what I was looking for was a way to offer a FA an invite to camp with contract terms that say if you shine during camp you will get a minor league contract or even a major league contract...if you don't, I cut ya. Maybe the mechanics/financials of OOTP don't require this. But essentially what I want to offer is an invite to camp without using even a minor league roster spot (in the odd case that I don't have a single open roster spot anywhere in my minor league system to use)

That can't happen IRL. All ST invitees must be under contract. Just follow real life press releases. They always say "so and so" has been signed to a minor league contract with an invite to ST. As we get closer to RL ST teams will also announce which existing minor league players have been invited.

Here is an example from last year.
