Make Owner Goals more negotiable and trade like

This idea came to me when my owner listed as a goal that I sign my closer to an extension. I am in a salary cap league and there is just no way I could bring him back with the jump of salary he was expecting. Plus anybody can close

So I don't know if this would be too hard to program and if the choices would have to be limited, but I had the idea that if the owner came to me with this goal, I would like the option to say
" I can't resign him but I can resign three very popular local players instead or I can guarantee a jump in attendance. "

The owner would then have the option to say no (of course) but if he says yes, then we are put on the hot seat even more if our promise doesn't become true.

I feel like this is a realistic way of approaching things, because the owner (im guessing) isnt close personal friends with my closer. He just wants him on the team because he brings in the revenue.

If you all think this is a decent idea, I also would be interested what other reasonable negotiations people can come up with for other owner goals.

Adding on to the closer example, if the owner is interested in winning, it would be nice to have the option to say I can get the same or better production out of the closer spot or maybe the option to say I can guarantee a better record if you let me let the closer walk.

And again if I don't meet those goals then I am put much more on the hot seat.

I think a cool idea would to tied long term goals to contract length and short term goals to budget when agreeing to goals.

Hmmm, I like this, but it might be easier to implement if the owner gave you a small list of choices for goals. That could emulate goal negotiations without having too complex of a system.

Winning is the ultimate deodorizer. I'd be content if the team has a winning record (say .600 or better) that that be weighted higher than the other demands. It sucks to be fired after leading your team to a 89 win season because of a few personnel moves you didn't make for good reason.

Yes, this. Winning heals all wounds.
