Basis of Manager not liking trade

My manager vehemently didn't like a trade and I couldn't figure out why.

Anyway 1981, Bruce Kison age 31 rated four stars with four years to go on his contract.

My trade was Kison for Dan Dressen age 29 four star rating and Bob Horner age 23 five star rating. I looked at it two or three times thinking the manager knew something I didn't see before making the trade over manager objections.

Another side to this was after getting Dressen I traded John Mayberry age 32 with a big contract rating two stars for a young low contract three star starter. My manager told me the other GM would never accept the deal. (He did.)

you mean your assistant gm? yes they do that often. I take their advice with a grain of salt.

rarely are they positive about a trade. the game typically makes you give more than you get, except for some cases related to scouting inaccuracy, demand or ?? ..rational reasons with causal effect

as far as whether the other gm is likely to accept, don't worry about what your asst gm says. the feedback from the other gm is the most important thing.

there's not much to be gained from reading the asst. gm's feedback that i can think of.

If i'm GM of a team, i fire the assistant immediately. They serve no purpose as far as i'm concerned.
