Personnel

I have played OOTP 18 for a few months now and started a dynasty from 1900 as GM. Whenever I hire a new manager I always look at their Player Development Influence and try to find a manager with at least an Average rating. I have gotten to 1930 and have several minor league teams now that I have to hire personnel for.

Does Player Development Influence have a significant impact on player development?
If so, is there a way to sort the managers by Player Development Influence or is there an attribute that correlates to Player Development Influence?
Lastly, does anyone have any recommendations for hiring new personnel or keeping old ones?

No one knows lol. If anyone can say definitively that it increases development by X%, they are lying. having said that, I will still try to hire good developers, and no there's no way to search for that.

the exacts aren't known but you can assume a few things based on the game feedback and manual and some experience.

the main rail(s) here is time/age and the player-related ratings first, then ancillary stuff like morale or coaches etc. there's an overall model and these variables tweak resulting %'s that are used for each individual at each step in time (doesn't have to be 1:1, could be 1:specific possible range). some is way more important than other things.

coach preferences:
if they are better with "power" guys, it stands to reason they aren't as good with eye and contact relative to a "Neutral" coach. trying to get more specific than that would take some research. game and manual alludes to this as well as worse relationships with certain players - that may be "the" cause or there may be more than one influencing effect.

hiring? well they don't even show the ratings info in the game, so is it stil important? maybe rep and coach preference is all that matters now? may have been easier to leave the fields in teh dB rather than have to re-do a bunch of functions relating to export/import? for the record, i doubt this theory.

i, stick to netural unless i have multiple teams at 1 mil level. if that's the case, i may diversify and do neutral and eye at lower levels and power at higher levels, but i prefer to keep it simple for my controled team - 1 team : 1 mil level.

i don't think the choice will have a "significant" impact unless it's diametrically opposed to your end goals... even then, maybe not

e.g. you like drafting speeding obp/high avg guys you don't go hire a bunch of power-centric coaches. OR maybe it's a good offset... trial and error, have fun
