You bring up a good point that I should address. I don’t mean to come off as an elitist prick, if I did I’m sorry. I don’t take back what I said, though it would be worded nicer. The last thing I want is to demotivate a new community member that’s trying to help and be useful. I encourage you to impart any knowledge that you have. At the same time, you should work on how you present yourself. That was really my only issue

Generally with video games, 200 hours is usually considered an expert level. It's certainly well over what most people put into any game. I stand by my comments. If you're going to portray yourself as an expert in the subject, expect to be scrutinized. Especially if "your intention is for this thread to serve as a reference for future newbies".
Not trying to be difficult here but two things come to mind.

1) 200 hours in a video game is not much at all, especially for a sports management simulation. I have well over 1000 hours in OOTP18 alone; never mind all the time I put into previous versions and other games like FHM/EHM/FOF. I can also safely say I put more than 200 hours into non sports games like WOW, LOTRO, Half Life, Mount and Blade, and others.

2) Again, I don't see anywhere at all where he portrayed himself as an "expert". I have no reason to take sides in this, but you are coming across as angry/annoyed at someone about something that isn't a big deal. If you don't like what he's writing here, don't read the thread. Pretty simple really. I have no issues with you or him, just to be clear. Just pointing out what I see.

I would tend to agree with this, at least the part about the information. Although to be fair, he never portrayed this thread as a "guide", more as a list of things he's noticed after 200 hours of playing. There are a lot of questions in the OP thread, however. You may want to take some of those to the new player thread and see if you get any responses.

This thread can't possibly be useful for new OOTP users, as it is full of inaccuracies not really constructive in any meaningful way....maybe it should be moved to the "New to OOTP" forum?

I think it's clear that you're probably more of a hardcore gamer. This thread was never intended for you. It was intended as a "future reference for newbies", his words, from a player with over 200 hours experience. If I was a new user, I'd think this guy knew what he was talking about.

I certainly could have simply ignored this thread but as someone who cares about this community, I had to comment on it after I read the content. All I said was that new members shouldn't use this because it was inaccurate and I was asked to elaborate, which I did. When a scientist publishes findings, the scientific community shouldn't just accept it or ignore it. It gets scrutinized because they value truth. Obviously, we are not a scientific community, but the same principle applies.

True, he didn't explicitly say it was a guide, but he did say it was a "reference for newbies". It's kind of the same thing in my opinion.

Having death in the game has been suggested in the past. Some of us--myself included--are very much against that. Real life is depressing and brutal as it is...I play sports management games as an escape from the issues my family faces every day.

It's not like you can't just use your self-restraint and not click on the thread

How would you set up injuries for a zombie league?
Custom injuries or add missing limbs to injury report.

Some of us know it's just a game. Why not have death be a feature you can turn on and off?

1st we need it as an option before we can turn it on or off.

That's my point...why not introduce it with the option of being able to use it?

Because having an option that they wouldn’t use would affect some people’s false sense of security

See statements like this are turning me off to this community already.
You made a statement about how I am wrong, and then don't explain why or how I am wrong. I'm trying to learn and grow here, just like everyone else. But if you just say something like "you are wrong" without explaining WHY I am wrong so I can learn, then you're just being a nuisance.
