Unable to trade for a Shortstop

Hey there all! Ok so here is my problem. I've been playing a real world MLB game and I'm in my 4th season and doing ok. I realized that my Shortstop pool was thin last year and I didn't have a lot of money for FA signing, so I decided to go the trade route. I have a nice stockpile of arms that I can trade from, and there are plenty of good shortstops around the league. Problem is, I cant get them! I literally can throw 3 top tier prospects including #4 in the whole league at every team that has a SS including average ones, and they just say "This has to be the worst deal I have ever seen." I am not a newbie player, I've been playing OOTP for a couple years now, and I've never seen teams straight out refuse to trade a position. I can do other trades no problem. Any thoughts?

If you switch it so that trades "favor prospects" you may have better luck.

Yeah, well Im in Challenge mode, so thats not a possibility. But the other weird thing is Ive also offered some great ML players with low contracts. Nothing.

Are Indy Leagues turned on in Challenge mode? If they are and you are looking for depth, take a look at some of the SS in the Atlantic League and just purchase the one or two you like and give them a shot.

Yeah, no go. Apparently I only selected some of the International Leagues. No Indy's

Where are you in terms of the season? I have been able to sign some serviceable veterans or Triple-A guys to minor league deals around Mid-May or June.

Also keep an eye on the waiver wire for that minimum guy who the AI is trying to sneak off their 40 man roster.

Yeah just finished a season. Checked postings, and international. Theres a couple FA 's that I think I can sign. Ill keep checking the waivers. But this has been going on since the beginning of last offseason. So a year. Just really weird.

Possibly you've already done this, but you could look for players listed at other positions that could also handle shortstop and try to get one of those. (i.e. search on SS ability, not listed position to find candidates)
