Reasons to Purchase

Hello all,

I played OOTP for about 5 consecutive seasons but sat out this year and last year due to frustrations with lack of AI improvements and also seemingly never-ending patches being required.

Would any long-time OOTP players and / or staff give me some insight and some reasons to purchase this year's game now that the latest / last patch has been released?

Thank you for your time

they add new layers each year.. i too would like a bit more focus on revamping ai. don't think that's a sexy sell, though. new features and asthetic stuff always trump it as far as allocation of resources, i'm sure.

if you don't like the patches, i'd wait for the end of year sale they typically have. ~$10 or somethign like that? think someone got ootp as part of some 3-game bundle for $1, recently. saw a post about it.

at that price, who cares if you play it more than once.

better minors, negro leagues and Federal League are in this version.
Real minor league players as well as real Negro League players. You can play segregated or not with the Negro league players. It was quite a step (and chore) in my opinion.

if the lack of AI improvement is a reason for you not to buy in the past, that hasnt changed.

as for patches, please show me what game doesnt need those

So, are you saying there have been few, or no, AI improvements in the last two full releases?

Also, I understand games need patches ... but, for several years, the game was so buggy, that it needed to be patched seemingly all the time, and the patches would fix problems that would cause me, personally, to have to start a new season ... so I'd be several seasons into a franchise and then realize there was some bug that would then get worked on but would be reason enough to start over. So, now, I find it wiser to simply purchase the game at the end of the year when there have been all of the patches already released. However, still no AI improvements in two full releases?

We are constantly improving and updating the AI. However, they don't tend to be as "sexy" changes, so sometimes will even get lumped together with the "other fixes" of various releases/patches.

Or I could just pull a Markus and post the list again. This is OOTP 18 (17 has a similarly long list I could pull up if we really need to).
