Associated leagues - shared draft?
I set up an association between a fictional US major league of 36 teams (10 years after league was created) and another fictional league (also of Major league level - but based in the Caribbean which had 12 teams and was just starting it's 2nd year).
Anyway, when I clicked the box to share amateur draft, I did not realize it also included an inaugural draft. So i'm simming away when the amateur draft is revealed, and Lo and Behold, it includes every player in both leagues. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get around it, as you can't edit anything with the draft after preseason. (or is it after spring training? No matter, I was into mid-May.) After a good round of trying to edit or move players (I exported draft order and player files but you can't reimport the draft players - darn it.) and I probably exhausted my extensive list of curses upon the Gods. Finally, I bit the bullet and found a saved game from after the previous seasons World Series, which also included the association build - but I hadn't played any games or simmed when it was saved. But I undid that association completely, then changed the draft dates for each league by a day or so, and everything for the upcoming amateur draft looked correct. (I'm still rebuilding and editing things to get it as close as I had before, so I am just into preseason. I am HOPING the draft is correct now. At least it shows each league has draft for each league and not for the Associated Leagues.) Anyway, what I was wondering was 1) could I have undone or fixed the mess of amateur draft becoming an inaugural draft - so it did not include all players - as i mentioned the game was already into mid-May of my season - and - more relevant and importantly - 2) is there a way to get a shared amateur draft for two different leagues without having an inaugural draft of all the leagues players involved? Thanks for any help. Sorry so long winded but wanted to give a bit of background as to what I had incorrectly created.

after 3 days of experiments and tests, i never could get this to work in my current league. (It did sort of work in a newly created league....)
So i've given up on Associating the two leagues until it gets worked on a bit, or made clearer to a dunce as myself. Instead did a mega-merger (so the draft and free agents would be shared without issue) - Edited and rearranged divisions, deleting a couple of feeder leagues and restructured the minors a bit - and created a 48 team league (2 leagues, 4 Divisions, 6 teams each), which may be more than a bit unruly as it progresses.... we shall see.
