Does one need to play every single day to have a chance to be #1 in the OOTP community?

Is it possible to quit and then start over fresh?

I think it's fine to quit and restart, you just lose what progress you had. And for the sake of achievements, you do have to play out the games to get those (so I've found), but you can sim through the games still and get credit for your manager score at the end of the season.
