Quick Question for anyone in the know
Just trying to wrap my head around what the option to "automatically adjust league totals modifiers for accuracy".
I sort of have an idea what it does, but am just looking for a more detailed explanation. I checked the manual, but it didn't seem to clear. Thank You. Last edited by PSUColonel; 11-11-2017 at 06:52 AM. |

Maybe you went to the wrong spot in the manual? Because this seems very clear to me. The key word that is missing in the in-game description is "historical" as that would explain it immediately.

Ok, thank you...so it appears this utility is only to be used in historical play?

for the most part, but it has other uses.
it's not meant to be used each year in fictional play, that is for sure. anytime the league changes it's a good idea to click it -- basically any stats and AI setting change, even the drop down boxes on left. some are more influential than others on results. league strucutre changes etc etc... things that influence resulting stats. just about anything. e.g. made up #'s - say you want sac bunts at ~800. whehter the bunting drop down on box is low, normal above average etc will effect the LTM for sac hits(bunts). auto-calc will set it to that drop-down box's value as a League Total that you cannot see. going from fictional Seed players (initial players at creation only) to fictionally created players (wether draft or feeders) is another transition that requires auto-calcling modifiers if you want some sort of continuity in resulting stats. change of era for historical play is the most obvious use. you can do that in a fictional league too, if you cared to. this last one is why, mostly in past, people would see a steady rise in offesnive numbers. the created players far outpace the offensive depth of initial seed players. your stats are gauranteed to shift -- maybe good or bad depending on your personal preferences. nothings required here, and depends on the individual when they want to use it. the auto-calc mods function is much more precise nowadays too. you'll see if you click multiple times it has way less give/take for resulting modifiers than in the past. the most basic way to explain what it does with no reference to why you should do it: ********************* it callibrates the league to roughly hit the league totals and other values defined by Stats and AI (settings et al) RELATIVE to current players in your league. ********************* so anytime the players change, stats will ebb and flow. that's why i suggest above that you should not click it each year. natural creation and yearly volatility of player's talent is nothing like transition from seed to fictional. you will never need to click it simply due to time... only if it is callibrated in a "spot" that you do not like. Trends to know when you click: talent ebbs and flow year to year.... if you click in a low talent year, stats can only go up from there after auto-calcing mods. if you click in a high talent year, stats can only ebb downward. if you click in an ~average year, you will see stats ebb and flow down and up for as long as you keep things the same settings. these 3 statements are basic generalities... in reality any given year will not be uniformly good/bad/average for every single related LTM/LT. in reality you'll have to click it, then make adjustments based on your knowledge of recent statistical results and choices of LTM. I use it for every year to reflect the steroid years to 4 man rotation to dead ball era.

Why do you feel that way? My EBL vs MLB league while it has the MLB part the EBL is a fictional-historical replay and it works great. I also use it for my ABF league which is based off of MLB in 2001.
