Would you do this trade?
I am very tempted to do this trade, but part of me feels I may be ripping the AI off. What do people think? I would be trading Monica and Brito for Yelich.

I think it's pretty fair as is. Maybe throw in another B/C+ prospect.

Moniak is a good start. If I were the Marlins, I would ask for Moniak plus either Crawford or Alfaro. Moniak plus Brito wouldn't be enough for me to give up Yelich, who is signed to a good contract.

That's not close to be fair. Brito is worthless as a player.

The way it is, you're screwing Miami.

Might have to bump trading difficulty up to "hard"

Would be interested to see the analysis of same deal with a harder trade setting as a comparison, before you actually do one.
Just to see what difference it makes. |

Sorry to necropost, but I found this thread by googling "ootp moniak" to ask a similar question.
I'm playing the standard game with the 2017 Phillies and David Montgomery wants me to upgrade at the catcher position. I'm playing with "Very hard" trading AI, with a "Neutral" trading preference. I went through my list of catchers that would be an upgrade (a lot of them) but wouldn't cost an arm and a leg (e.g. no Sanchez, Perez, Contreras, etc.) and decided to try to go get JT Realmuto from the Marlins, since the Phils could use some more contact in their lineup. I wasn't getting any bites at all with anyone on my 25-man roster. Not Nola, not Franco... Not that I would have necessarily done those deals, but just to see what they want. So I figured I'd try prospects, and Mickey Moniak gets the deal done for Realmuto. OK, that doesn't sound like one the Marlins would do in real life, (especially now that Moniak's outlook has faded) but maybe since he's a top 20 prospect in OOTP they really want to get younger or something. So if they like that deal, I figured I'd add some other players, and... uh... ![]() If I take Baraclough out, he accepts immediately. In all cases, Matt Klentak says it's a bad deal. Huh??? I find this particularly confusing, since I've seen some advice that says you should play with "favor prospects", which would theoretically allow me to fleece them even more. Yeah, I get that if the 18 year-old Moniak realizes his 5-star potential then I might regret this, but prospects flame out all the time. Do they follow a more predictable path to greatness in OOTP that makes this a bad deal? I just can't wrap my head around trading a prospect, however good, for three successful major league players. Edited to add: I can even get Realmuto and Dee Gordon for just Moniak. Does OOTP think he's Mike Trout? Last edited by tonycpsu; 11-01-2017 at 05:29 PM. |

Just for laughs, I offered Moniak for Stanton. My Phillies don't have enough budget room to do that deal, but if I tell Miami to retain 20% of Stanton's salary, the Miami GM accepts! They're paying me to take Giancarlo Stanton for Mickey Moniak!
And this is with "Very hard" trade difficulty. I've had a really hard time finding trades that are worth accepting, but for some reason, Michael Hill wants to give his team's best players away for a lottery ticket |

Yeah, I'm playing with 40/30/20/10 for the ratings/performance weights, but I've tried various combinations and it still lets me get a king's ransom for Moniak. Factoring in the "very hard" and "neutral" settings, and the fact that the Marlins have a "neutral" team focus, the only things I see remaining are Michael Hill's GM attributes:
![]() and the scouting director's attributes: ![]() There's some favor for scout value there, but not as much as I expected to result in lopsided deals that give away guys like Stanton, Gordon, Realmuto, and Bour. For the purposes of having an enjoyable season I'm going to just do Moniak for Realmuto instead of grabbing Stanton or Gordon, but it's a shame the AI can't do better in cases like this.
