I'll take "Bad Sports Takes" for $300, Alex

I propose we stick with those that are public figures, not just any random Twitter user and definitely not comments on the forum. But I have no control over that, so...please?

Off the top of my head, Jackie Robinson and Larry Dobie come to mind.

Ah, the Biggest Moron In Sports Reporting speaks (okay, types) again. As usual, something stupid is the result. No shock there.

Jackie Robinson, Doby, Pete Gray, and Willie O'Ree are four that come to mind just off the top of my head.

Bayless isn't actually stupid, it's just that his brand depends on contrarianism.

Yeah, but the problem is, he usually gets that wrong, too. Nothing wrong with an unpopular take, but you need to get one right occasionally.

That's not his game though. I doesn't matter if he's wrong, all that matters is that he's disagreeing with everyone else.

Because his contrarianism causes controversy and shows like First Take are predicated on controversy. It's his whole job and he's very well compensated for it. I would agree that First Take and their ilk are brain dead and we'd be better off without them but until the public stops tuning in they'll stay on the air.

In 2017, it doesn't matter whether something is true or false, smart or dumb, right or wrong ... the question is - does it generate noise and attention, e.g. viewers, listeners, clicks? Nothing generates more noise than a controversial stance that has people have their own opinions.

The least you could have done is told me when instead of making me do research on my own.

November 26, 2001.

TIL 16 years is a long time ago.

Was it on par with them celebrating their Stanley Cup in a parking lot?
