Fictional League Draft issue

I have a 22 team NHL Fictional league with 22 AHL teams and 28 CHL teams.

The first seasons draft was loaded with talent, the 2nd year after the 2nd round it was mostly 1 or .5 start players.

The third season there were only 29 players available in the draft, all fringe players and all defensemen. The draft ended in the 2nd round.

Is this a known issue or possibly a set up mistake on my part. Any help would be appreciated.

I can confirm seeing something similar in my fictional league (using a 12/12/12 team setup). First season was overloaded with talent, second season was a bit light on talent but fairly appropriate for the size of my 'world', while the 3rd is projected to have only half star prospects, including a player each of the ages of 34, 32, 31, 29. 28, 26, 25, 24, and 20 before being a pile of 17-19 year old guys.

There are 17LD and 19 RD, no forwards or goalies.

If I look at the junior league teams, there's a clear gap with very few 17 year old players on them, while they have 15 and 16 year old players with 3 to 5 stars as you would expect. If I go to the front office free agent center, there are also plenty of 14 and 15 year old players with plenty of potential waiting to be old enough to be drafted and signed by a junior team, so this issue does look like the usual player generation system works fine, it's just the initial custom league generation that skips a generation or three of players.

(I accidentally posted about this with less detail in the general forum, and have an attached save there)

Yeah, it sounds like there's an issue with the age distribution on the initial junior teams that's creating some weak draft classes after the first year or two, particularly if the major league is large and drafting a lot of players. Should be easy enough to fix if that's what it is.
