Question about ending rehab assignments
Is there a way to simply end a rehab assignment by sending the player to the minors permanently? Is there some reason this actually isn't allowed (i.e. a rule in MLB or something)? What I usually do is send someone down who already has their option used, then activate them from the DL, then send them down and bring the other player back up.
But there's been a lot of times where the guy I called up is hot and I just want to end the rehab assignment by leaving the guy in the minors, and it's always a hassle. |

That's normally what I do too.
Complications might arise if the player you want to end and keep in the minors is out of options on the rehab? That would skirt the rule of being waived. Or a player with ability to "refuse a demotion". If you can leave them in the minors after a rehab, that skirts that too. Probably would take much more coding logic to account for that complexity. Just my guess. |

So are you saying there IS in fact an exploit here? I’ve never tried this. If it is indeed an exploit, this should be fixed.

I read the original post as asking whether you CAN (or whether the game might be changed so that you could) simply end a rehab and leave a player in the minors. I really think you have to do what was outlined. Bring them back up from a rehab, then you must deal with either their lack of options or a refusal, if that is the case. It would be far to complicated to code the game so that if you choose to end a rehab or not bring a player back up, to have them then say, "Hey wait a minute, I'm out of options so you have to or, I do have a right of refusal, so you can't just leave me down here!" Having to first return them to the 25 allows both of those things to kick in.And if you have a 25 full of guys without options, then it gets even more complicated, but so be it! I think it's fine as is. |

If a guy has options left and is eligible to come back from the DL, you can right click on him and just hit Send to Triple-A and he will go there without being listed as on Rehab Assignment. If he is out of options, you will get the message that he needs to clear waivers first.

And I don't think there's any potential exploit here, at least, I'm not trying to ask for one. I just know that I've had to burn an option on a player before as the martyr that had to be sent down for 10 seconds (I had a veteran team and a bunch of injuries, and the only guy with options under 5 years of service had to have his last year burned just to get a guy off rehab and sent back down). It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to code in a button that says "end rehab by sending to AAA", which would still check if the player has over 5 years or option years left, and gives you the popup on-screen if you can't send him down without consequences. |
