Undrafted High School Players

Is there anywhere you can find the undrafted high school players from a feeder league? I am thinking about assigning them manually to colleges since the game will not automatically do it.

I know this is late, but it's applicable. If you 'select' the HS league and select 'list all players', you can sort them by age. You'll see players up to 24 years old listed as free agents.

One would think it would be fairly easy to correct this issue. My college feeder teams are creating players. It appears that most college players never played in HS. I can't say it's flawed because I don't know the logic behind it. The fact that there is very little documentation is flawed.

Either...

1) A player who 'chooses' not to go to college remains part of the HS league (as a free agent) so he can re-enter the draft. If this is the case, then there needs to be enough HS teams to generate enough players that want to go to college. Is this the case? I don't know. If it is, I can live with it, but OOTP needs to tell it's users so they can create their baseball worlds appropriately.

2) Maybe the College teams, who by default create 'better' players than HS teams, don't want any of the HS players. Again, I can live with this if I 'know'. If this is the case, will more HS teams might fix the issue?

I currently have 200 HS teams and 60 COL teams. I'm going to test a couple of things.

1) I'm going to modify the COL creation modifiers so COL players (who didn't come from HS) aren't worth a tiddly boot.

2) I'm going to test the HS/COL ratio theory.

3) Depending on results, test both 1 and 2 together.

This is what I found...

With 6x the number of HS teams (180 HS teams, 30 COL teams) and roster limits set to 28, there where very few (less than 5) college players without HS experience. I sim'd several years. I assume injuries play a part in these created players, but it isn't enough to care. I also lowered the creation modifiers for the COL teams. This ensures the 'walk on' players won't normally be MLB caliber players.

Will a 4:1 ratio be ok? Or 5:1? I don't know, I only tested 6:1. I know 3:1 is not good. There where WAY TOO MANY COL players that didn't 'play' in HS.

As for players that weren't drafted not going to MLB free agency, I have no clue how to fix that. It's a bug, especially for undrafted college players. If a player doesn't return to college, he should be a free agent. I suppose they can be deleted, but they eventually disappear when the hit age 25.

FYI... Another discover in my set up. Adding the number of COL teams to the number of HS teams to calculate the number of draftees isn't accurate (in my set up). If the COL teams aren't creating players, you don't need to count them. The COL players that enter the draft are replaced by HS players. So if you need/want 1260 players for the draft, you need 180 HS teams. With roster limits of 28, about 7 'graduate' per team. If COL 'graduated' 210 players (30 teams), then 210 HS players will go to COL, so you'll still have 1260 (not 1470). In short, assuming roster limits and an appropriate HS/COL ratio, the number of HS teams dictates how many players will enter the draft. The COL is irrelevant.

I believe if OOTP developments fixes the undrafted player issue, the feeder leagues are the way to go if your PC can handle it. It's worth mentioning.... When I create a HS feeder league, I set the creation ages to 14-17 and AFTER I've added fictional players, I change it to 14-15. If you set it to 14-14, then you get a perpetual cycle. So HS players will play 3 or 4 years in HS. I leave COL at 18-21 (scrubs can be any age and very few are created). However, in the COL league, AFTER I add fictional players,. I change the creation modifies (I cut them in half).
