Game Crashes while clicking "finish today"

I have played ootp fluently for almost 100 hours and no crashes ever happened. Now the strange thing is that in the game it's 2018/06/27 and whenever i click "finish today", the game will crash. There will be a window saying "A problem occurred that leads to program malfunction. If there is solution, Windows will close the program and notify you" or something I don't remember.

The strange thing is that when I can open the game play, or make a trade, or anything. But I just can't finish that day, because it always crashes. I have never encountered one crash in this game before, so it really bothers me.I have tried to make backups, reinstall the game, or adjust the system settings as said on many threads, but none worked.

I have posted my file (Linsanity)in ftp.

Thanks.

Hey!

I'll try to take a look at the save soon, but in the meantime your best bet would be to try to restore from the autosave.

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings (or Preferences in OOTP 11-14).

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

Now start the game and load your league. If it's successful, it will display a message letting you know it's cleaning up text files. This might take several minutes to complete (or even longer if the auto-save backup is older, like from the beginning of the year).

Let me know if that helps.

Hi, I tried to open this file, but it seems there was an error either when creating the zip file or while uploading. Could you please try to re-zip the .dat files and upload again? If you want to save space, you can include all .dat files except the faces.dat file, and that may help keep the size down.

I'll try to update it again, meanwhile that auto-save solution doesn't seem to be working.

Any chance I can send you the files by Email? The FTP thing is quite slow. Thanks!

Hi, I had a look at your file, and the crash appears to be related to a coach signing in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse league. There appears to be some corruption going on, as many coaches in that league appear as "Jim Unknown" without proper values assigned to them. I'm not sure how the league got into that state.

The simple solution is to delete that entire league. If you are not actively playing it, that should allow your game to continue past that date. Sorry for the error, we'll do what we can in the future to prevent this.
*edit to add: this may not be limited to the HH league. It looks like a few other of the foreign/indy leagues may have similar issues. Mostly the crash is related to owners, so if you check the owner page of the various teams in the indy leagues, any which have a similar issue which you don't care about you may want to delete as well.
