Scouting Accuracy

Is Scouting Accuracy of International Amateurs decided more by a scout's international scouting rating or his amateur rating?

You'd want to verify, but...

as far as i know it only affects scouting of international "Leagues"

So, if oyu have the NBL active, this budget will affect how you see those players in that other league.

international amatuer discoveries and international amatuers you sign on july 2nd are affected by teh Amatuer scouting budget, as far as i can tell.

i've been regularly using "0%" int'l scouting budget for a while now. i am 99% certain of what i stated above. i do not have any international leagues active in my game world. when i first started doing it i'd sort by potential then go into editor and scroll through seeing the real ratings... the distribution and order was very similar to year's past using a good-sized budget.

you may find an old thread of mine where i stated that i thought the budget improved discoveries (the email ones)... i'm 99% certain i was wrong on that, based on what i said above... i still get the same low-probability decent player from discoveries even with a 0% budget.

I'm not really asking about the budget, more the scouting accuracy.

Say I have a guy who is rated as "Legendary" at scouting Amateurs, but "poor" at scouting International players. Will he be good or bad at scouting International Amateurs?

I'm pretty sure that NoOne is right and that Int'l Amateurs are scouted as Amateurs while International scouting applies to International leagues.

Oh is that what he said? I couldn't really tell what he meant. Sorry

My experience is that your scouts international skill will reflect in the scouting of the international free agent draft. Otoh, discoveries for all intents and purposes, are abysmal. My scout is rated "outstanding" and has a $2.2 million budget. He's found me multiple players and every one he tells me to forget about or that he has no ML potential. Of course, it's a small sample, but I lean towards putting my budget elsewhere.

Yeah my scout is outstanding as well, and has never found a good candidate, nor has he ever been right about any international free agents

It would be helpful if scouts could give you a little more information about players. The scout discovers a talent while on their foreign "trips" and then three weeks later, the same talent he "found," your scout calls him "garbage." Or, in his scouting reports, the scout says stuff like, "He can really hit." A few lines later: "He won't amount to much." Which is it?

A scout's job is to figure out what a kid will be able to do in the future - next year, three years, six years from now. And if he has an excellent or legendary reputation, that means that he should be better than average at his job. That doesn't mean that he is always 100% correct. But virtually any scout rated as "legendary" ought to be able to tell you enough about a 20 year-old A-ball prospect, to tell you whether or not that prospect merits another year, or if you need to release him. That absolutely doesn't mean that 20-year-old will be a star. It only means that your scout is advising you that you have other players who are more deserving of that roster spot.
