Players appear in DFA after importing league to ootp18

Online league- updated from OOTP16 to 17demo to 18 proper.

During changeover, a bunch of players showed up in DFA on several teams- mostly young, sucky players- (perhaps guys who have aged out of the international league? Most are international discoveries)

Some investigation concluded that the player IDs existed in the league files in OOTP16, but these players themselves were not visible in the game. There are maybe 75 players in this boat- some teams did not have any, one team had like 30.

Trying to run the first 1-day sim for the league from Commish Central, which breaks because "Player X on team01 is not assigned to any roster". The check-box for 'release or reassign DFA players' is checked in commish screen.

I first tried going in and releasing all of the players in question. But when I tried again to run the 1-day sim, I got the same error and lo and behold, the players were on the DFA list again. I tried deleting the player altogether (in game, as commish), and transactions show him as "becomes a free agent", but he reappears on the DFA list again when I try to run the 1-day sim.

Will try to upload saved_game file according to instructions under title: To The Wall Baseball.lg

Thanks much

Due to errors in past versions, some players which were released before were not actually released (essentially a sync error between the export and import). So we have done some changes so those players won't be hidden anymore.

Anything you do with those players, if done on the master file, it should work. However, please note that it won't necessarily work to do the edits to them, export your team roster, and expect those edits to hold. However if you do go and delete them/release them in the master file, then they should not re-appear.

Thank you- I think I understand the problem better now, and have a better idea of order of operations to get it repaired- will get back if the fix I try tonight does not work.

Fixed! Thanks for the advice, Matt.

Future people finding this thread- my mistake was in collecting team exports in the Automator when running the sim. Collect the team exports first manually, then release the ghost players, then run the sim with the 'get team exports from server' option UNchecked.
