Is a tiring bullpen pitcher less effective?
QUESTION: If I insert a pitcher with a status of "tiring" currently in the bullpen, will he be less effective compared to if he was inserted as "ready".
Comment ... I read some old threads and the status in bullpen was apparently a new feature some versions ago. Some liked, some didn't like. My view is anything that creates more decision making, timing, tactics, etc. is great -- most of us like the game for its complexity and the more decisions for the human player to make, the better. That said, I think in real life the pitching coach has the pitchers pace themselves if the inning wears on and slow down their number of throws if they are up and likely to be used so "tiring" is not a real life issue (besides sitting for a short time also). Also, say the game says "tiring" after just 15 pitches or so" ... had this pitcher been inserted when "ready", he may pitch 35 pitches or more and still be "OK" so the tiring thing is a bit funky when far more pitches are thrown after insertion and they do not tire on the mound ... weird. Response to my question above ... thank you in advance to help me figure out what happens to effectiveness inserting a "tiring" pitcher. Is there some x % taken off ratings or something by the AI? |

My understanding is that there is an impact on performance, but it is minimal. Also they will tire faster and not be able to throw as many pitches.

Agreed, I'm rather it sure it does; I play-out all of my games and have noticed it a few times. It is minimal, but I think it stands-out more in my mind, or I noticed it where I had it happen with one of my better RPs.

it's an indication that he is beyond "warm"
it can lead to negative effects. the longer they are tiring the worse the effect. probably by pitch or by outs it 'ticks' or something similar. so, don't let them wear themselves out. as far as it not being a RL issue.. in a perfect world i'd agree. unfortunately there are inept people in all jobs... a certain % guaranteed. plus, the 'best' make mistakes too. |
