End of September / October (Playoffs not included) Update P1

End of September/October Breakdown

In this section, I want to briefly talk about how the end of the regular season went, and which roster moves will likely come in the upcoming months.

The Following Pitchers have had great years and deserve to be highlighted:

Jake Thompson is considered by my scouts to be a neutral pitcher (no tendency towards pop-ups or grounders) and was probably my must surprising pitcher this year. Thompson has slightly above average stuff, slightly above average movement, above average control, above average Fast Ball, above average Sinker, above average Curve Ball, above average Slider, and an average Change Up.

SP – Jake Thompson pitched 173.0 IP, 3.69 ERA, 13-6 W/L, 0.9 HR/9, 2.7 BB/9, 7.1 K/9, 4.01 FIP, 3.1 WAR.

Vince Velasquez was one of the few consistent pitchers that I could rely on early in the season. Velasquez had a mediocre second half and his numbers started to fall off in the final months. However, he is young and has room to improve. I hope that the World Series experience will give him some room to improve. Velasquez has above average stuff, below average movement, slightly above average control, an above average Fast Ball, a slightly above average Curve Ball, and an Elite Change up. Finally, Velasquez is considered to be a pop-up pitcher, which is fitting in the hitter’s friendly Citizen Bank Park.

SP – Vince Velasquez pitched 175.2 IP, 4.20 ERA, 16-8 W/L, 1.4 HR9, 2.9 BB/9, 7.9 K/9, 4.01 FIP, and 2.2 WAR.

Michael Lorenzo was a big addition to the team. He came over as part of a package deal including 2B - Scooter Gennet for OF – Hyun-Shoo Kim and INF – Andres Bianco. Lorenzo has potential to become an elite closer in the league; especially given a hitter’s friendly ball park like the Bank and elite defense like we saw in 2017. In 2017, Lorenzo led the entire MLB with 49 SV. That is impressive, considering that the young pitcher is only in his 3rd Major League season. Lorenzo has above average stuff, elite movement, above average control, an elite Fast Ball, a great Curve Ball, and a great Change-Up.

CL – Michael Lorenzo pitched 80 IP, 3.15 ERA, 4-4 W/L, 1.0 HR/9, 3.3 BB/9, 7.9 K/9, 49 SV, 3.93 FIP, 0.7 WAR.

Phillies Fans have come to know Hector Neris over the last 4 seasons. The 28 year old relief pitcher had a tremendous year pitching 79.2 IP, 2.94 IP, 8-5 W/L, 1.0 HR/9, 4.0 BB/9, 10.9 K/9, 4 SV, 3.67 FIP, 1.0 WAR. Neris has great stuff, average movement, average control, a great Fast Ball, an above average Slider, and a great Splitter. Neris has already hit his peak and isn’t expected to improve much more than where he current ability is at. He might be a candidate to move in the next 2-3 years if his ability moves off. However, for now, Neris is a rock that the Phillies can rely on.

RP – Hector Neris pitched 79.2 IP, 2.94 IP, 8-5 W/L, 1.0 HR/9, 4.0 BB/9, 10.9 K/9, 4 SV, 3.67 FIP, 1.0 WAR.

Trevor Oaks split time between the starting rotation and bullpen this season. The young pitching prospect was part of the Michael Saunders trade package which also included young catcher Kyle Farmer. Oaks has below average stuff, slightly above average movement, great control, above average control, above average Sinker, slightly above average Curve ball, slightly above average Slider, slightly above average Change Up.

SP/RP – Trevor Oaks pitched 56 IP, 3.38 ERA, 4-0 W/L, 1.1 HR/9, 1.6 BB/9, 6.6 K/9, 3.90 FIP, 0.5 WAR.

Joely Rodriquez ended his 2nd full year of Major League Baseball this season. He is distinguished by other players by the fact that he played in more games than any other RP this season. In addition, Rodriquez did it while putting up pretty decent numbers. The 25 year old neutral pitcher has average stuff, slightly above average movement, average control, an above average Fast Ball, an above average Sinker, and a slightly above average Slider.

RP - Rodriguez pitched 49.1 IP, 3.28 ERA, 3-3 W/L, 0.9 HR/9, 4.4 BB/9, 8.9 K/9, 1 SV, 3.99 FIP, 0.4 WAR.

Brooks Pounders was a member of the unfortunate regulation group this season. With a very large group of talented young pitchers, Pounders didn’t find a regular spot in this season’s Major League squad. I am about 90% sure that Clay Buchholz will not be returning next season, freeing up a spot for Pounders. Pounders has above average Stuff, below average Movement, average Control, a great Fast Ball, an above average Slider, and an elite Change-Up.

SP/RP - Pounders pitched 47.2 IP, 4.94 ERA, 3-0 W/L, 1.1 HR/9, 3.0 BB/9, 7.4 K/9, 4.21 FIP, 1.3 WAR.

The Following Pitchers need to step up their game and play to their potential next season:

SP - Aaron Nola, SP – Jerad Eickoff, SP – Zack Eflin, SP – Nick Pivetta

The Following Pitchers will probably be moved/traded/released

SP – Clay Buccholz (Inflated numbers, payroll, old)

SP – Casey Fien (Bad value for stats, older, probably not worth arbitration prices)

End of September / October (Playoffs not included) Update P2

The Following Position Players / Hitters deserve to be Highlighted

Odubel Herrera has propelled himself to elite status this season. In his third season of playing on the Phillies Major League squad, he has earned his second All-Star Game appearance and was named the World Series MVP. At just 25 years old, I can see him wearing a Phillies jersey for a very long time. Herrera has slightly above average Contact, above average Gap Power, average Home Run Power, slightly above average Eye, and slightly above average ability to avoid K’s. He posses great speed and base running ability and can play Gold Glove caliber defense.

OF - Herrera hit 632 AB, .307 AVG, .356 OBP, 82 R, 179 H, 21 HR, 35 BB, 122 SO, 4.4 WAR, 5.5 BB%, 19.3 SO%, .185 ISO, .358 BABIP, 125 wRC+.

Rookie OF Nick Williams exploded onto the scheme in 2017 with a huge offensive year. The youngster played well enough to earn July’s Rookie of the Month Award. He also played an important role in sealing the World Series Championship. Williams has slightly below contact, elite Gap Power, above average Home Run Power, slightly below average Eye, and below average Avoid K’s. Nick Williams has a lot of potential and room to improve and will need to work on his OBP and SO% if he would like to stay on the team long term. Williams has slightly above average speed and base running abilities. However, he plays Gold Glove caliber defense. I am interested how Williams progresses over the next few years. The one negative about Williams is that he does not fit the mold of what I am looking for in a player. High Eye and Avoid K is very important to me. HR and Gap power is not as important. Perhaps he is not a long term option for us.

OF - Williams hit: 450 AB, .269 AVG, .315 OBP, 56 R, 121 H, 18 HR, 24 BB, 148 SO, 1.9 WAR, 4.9 BB%, 30.5 SO%, .202 ISO, .358 BABIP, 107 wRC+.

Das Wunderkind aus Deutschland! Aaron Altherr is the reason I joined the Phillies Fan Base. Other Contenders include Donald Lutz (Reds) and Max Kepler (Twins) for German Born or Half-German baseball players. It is cool to see other Germans living performing on the top level of Major League Sports, especially from a country that is not known for Baseball.

*Fun Fact – Baseball was the featured sport during the 1936 Berlin Olympics in Nazi controlled Germany. However, Hitler would not permit American sports due to his pro-nationalistic philosophy and promoted Gymnastics instead. Furthermore, many members of the American National Team were Jewish and protested the event. However, A demonstration took place in front of a crowd of 125,000 spectators; the largest baseball event in the history of domestic and international games.

Altherr has slightly below average Contact, above average Gap Power, slightly above average Home Run Power, slightly above average Eye, and slightly below average Avoid K’s. Altherr possesses above average Speed and slightly above average Base Running Ability. In addition to his hitting talent, he plays Gold Glove caliber defense. I feel that Altherr has much more upside than Nick Williams because of his Eye ability. Altherr as not reached his full potential and could become one of the next Phillies greats.

OF – Altherr hit 623 AB, .259 AVG, .331 OBP, 80 R, 146 H, 24 HR, 24 BB, 175 SO, 2.4 WAR, 6.9 BB%, 28.1 SO%, .188 ISO, .335 BABIP, 108 wRC+.

Catcher has been a tough position for the Phillies organization to figure out. With Cameron Rupp (released), Andrew Knapp, Kyle Farmer, and Jorge Alfaro all taking significant time behind the plate, it seemed that nobody could play well enough to man the position. However, Jorge Alfaro exploded after the All-Star break earning himself Rookie of the Month honors in August. Alfaro has the similar draw backs that Nick Williams has over the long term. He has slightly below average Contact, slightly above average Gap Power, slightly above average HR Power, below average Eye, and below average Avoid Ks. As mentioned before, I place high value in Eye and Avoid K’s and will watch how Alfaro progresses in the next years. Alfaro possesses decent Speed for his position, slightly above average Base Running, and plays Gold Glove caliber defense.

C – Alfaro hit: 230 AB, .309 AVG, .348 OBP, 38 R, 71 H, 13 HR, 12 BB, 68 SO, 2.2 WAR, 4.9 BB%, 27.5 SO%, .252 ISO, .384 BABIP, 134 wRC+

Jefrey Marte has arguably been the difference maker on this year’s team. In a controversial 6 man trade that saw Maikel Franco go to the LAA. Marte came in and immediately made his presence felt in the club house. Marte has above average Contact, slightly above average Gap Power, above average Home Run Power, slightly above average Eye, and slightly above average Avoid K. He has slightly above average speed but needs to work on his Base Running Ability. Marte also played Gold Glove caliber defense.

3B – Marte hit: 505 AB, .294 AVG, .352 OBP, 71 R, 135 H, 28 HR, 39 BB, 113 SO, 3.8 WAR, 7.7 BB%, 18.8 SO%, .242 ISO, .333 BABIP, 132 wRC+.

Arguably my favorite Philadelphia Philly, Cesar Hernandez went on a hitting spree comparable to the elite hitting ability of Jose Altuve. This came as a surprise as Hernandez is only considered to be an average hitter by most scouts (in game). On a 20-80 scale, he is directly in the middle at 41 OVR. He features slightly above average Contact, slightly below average Gap Power, very below average Home Run Power, slightly above average Eye, and slightly above average Avoid K. He has ok speed but is only average on the bases. However, he plays Gold Glove caliber defense. His mediocre profile makes what he accomplished this season that much more special. I do expect some fall off next season but it hard to say how much.

2B – Hernandez hit: 543 AB, .298 AVG, .384 OBP, 77 R, 162 H, 5 HR, 70 BB, 114 SO, 4.0 WAR, 11 BB% / 18.3 SO%, .105 ISO, .369 BABIP, 118 wRC+.

The Following Players need to continue to improve:

SS – Kelby Tomilson (more power), Rhys Hoskins (Avg, OBP, HR)

The Following players will probably be moved/traded/released

2B – Scooter Genett (no room on roster, highly regarded prospect soon to be called up)

SS – Freddy Galvis (no room on roster, highly regarded prospect soon to be called up)

OF – Roman Quinn (no room on roster, the OF position is crowded with elite talent)

Post Season Update

I don't normally like to highlight statistics from Spring Training or the Post Season because they usually do not provide enough reps for the statistics to really show anything. With that being said, here are some of the Phillies Post Season top performers:

Pitchers

SP - Aaron Nola: 29 IP, 1.86 ERA, 1-0 W/L, 1.2 HR/9, 1.9 BB/9, 8.7 K/9, 3.19 FIP

SP - Jake Thompson: 29 IP, 1.55 ERA, 3-0 W/L, 0.6 HR/9, 2.5 BB/9, 5.6 K/8, 3.95 FIP

CL - Michael Lorenzen: 14 IP, 0.64 ERA, 1-0 W/L, 0.0 HR/9, 3.2 BB/9, 6.4 K/9, 7 SV, 2.90 FIP

Batters

3B - Jefrey Marte: 73 AB, .315 AVG, .367 OBP, 12 R, 23 H, 3 HR, 14 SO, 0.6 WAR, 6.3 BB%, 17.7 SO%, .192 ISO, .357 BABIP, 137 wRC+.

SS - Kelby Tomilson: 71 AB, .375 AVG, .437 OBP, 9 R, 24 H, 1 HR, 11 SO, 0.8 WAR, 9.9 BB%, 15.5 SO%, .109 ISO, .442 BABIP, 156 wRC+.

OF - (PS MVP) - Odubel Herrera: 78 AB, .319 AVG, .372 OBP, 6 R, 23 H, 2 HR, 18 SO, 0.7 WAR, 5.1 BB%, 23.1 SO%, .208 ISO, .404 BABIP, 137 wRC+.

Utley, Rollins Retire

In my OOTP franchise, Chase Utley (LAD) and Jimmy Rollins (CWS) retired. Both players served the Phillies for 10+ years and were long time fan favorites.

Utley earned 6x All-Star selections, 4x Silver Slugger Awards, and was a member of the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies World Series Squad. In addition, Utley hit 1076 R, 1837 H, and .277 AVG and 257 HR between his time with the Phillies and Dodgers.

Rollins earned a league MVP, 3x All-Star selections, 4x Gold Gloves, a Silver Slugger, and was also a member of the 2008 World Series squad. He hit 1421 R, 2455 H, .264 AVG and 231 HR between his time Philadelphia Phillies, LA Dodgers, and Chicago White Sox.

*both numbers based on baseball-reference.com and are not derived from the OOTP database.

Both Utley and Rollins will have their respective numbers retired during the Home Opener of the 2018 season. They will be missed and the Phillies organization wishes them all the best in their retirement.

Should Ryan Howard have his number retired? Let me know what you think!

Off-Season Plans

I decided I won't be making any big moves or signings. My team is very young and cheap and can work in Arbitration to get things done. So here is a basic list of the off-seasons:

Parting Ways:
SP - Clay Buchholz
RP - Casey Fien
2B - Scooter Gennett
SS - Freddy Galvis

Signed:
RP - Boone Logan (2YR/12M) - wanted to bring in at least one veteran bullpen with the Clay Buchholz money.

Retired
RP - Pedro Beato

Awards:
Top Manager - Pete Mackanin

New Faces:
2B - Scott Kingery
SS - JP Crawford

Does anyone know why my owner cut my budget after winning the World Series? Is this a game glitch or is it programmed into the ownership personality?

Probably personality, I got a budget cut with Seattle once after winning the World Series but we had just had a 200 million dollar payroll for the third year in a row.
It could also be your ticket prices were too high or low so you didn't make a profit, in finances check your revenue compared to last year.

Welcome to the 2018 season

Hey fellow Managers and GMs

I just saw this thread hit over 1000 views. Thank you for the support and the time of day to read my thread/blog. I hope that you guys have enjoyed my franchise as much as I have to this point. I don't expect things to go as well as they did for me in year 1. But lets keep playing baseball!

In the 2018 season my owner gave some new goals:

- Reach the Playoffs
- Improve Statistics - Runs Scored
- Acquire a Hometown Player
- Increase Attendance - 33800 per game by 2022
- Build a Championship Team by 2022

The only one im not sure how to approach is "increase attendance." is it easier to go out and get a few elite players or to drop ticket prices?

Spring Training Update

The Philadelphia Phillies finished T-1 with an 16-12 Record in the NL East. Only the Chicago Cubs had a better record in the NL at 20-8.

The Phillies are favored to win the NL East this year and secure a playoff spot. The Experts (game) predict the Phillies winning approximately 87 wins in the 2018 campaign. Last year the Phillies won 90 on route to a Single Elimination game against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Wild Card game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Phillies did not make a big splash in the Off-Season, looking to build from within. The talent is in place to build long-term success.

New Faces

The Philadelphia Phillies decided not to bring back SS - Freddy Galvis or 2B - Scooter Gennett with the expected arrival of SS - JP Crawford and 2B - Scott Kingery. Both players played well enough in Spring Training to earn spots in the starting line-up and are expected to compete for the full time position.

Cesar Hernandez put up career numbers last season and played great defense. However, he only has a mediocre skill set and lacks power to be a Home Run threat.

Kelby Tomilson also had a great year for the Phillies last year and was a huge contributor in the Play-Offs. His main downfall is a general lack of power. However, if Crawford struggles, you can count on Tomilson manning the position.

Phillies Drop Opening Day Outing

*I am only going to update the first 3 games of the month because of Opening Week / Opening Day series. Then I will provide monthly updates like last season.

Game Recap

The Philadelphia Phillies dropped the 1st of 3 games against the Miami Marlins this Opening Day series. The Marlins scored 3 Runs in the top of the 9th Inning on a Michael Lorenzen Blown Save (BS). Lorenzen lead the lead in Saves last season and expected to be the Closer this season. He was recorded with a Loss.

SP - Aaron Nola pitched 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 HR on 73 pitches.

Rookie Update

JP Crawford recorded his first Major League Hit on a 2 run Double. Crawford hit 0 R, 1 H, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K, on 4 AB.

Big First Days

Rhys Hoskins started the season off with a bang. Hoskins hit: 2 R, 1 H, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 0 K, on 3 AB.

Aaron Altherr got himself a pair of Walks hitting: 0 R, 1 H, 0 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K on 2 AB.

Jorge Alfaro hit: 1 R, 1H, 0 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, on 3 AB.

Jefre Marte also scored a run in today's opener hitting: 1 R, 1 H, 0 RBI, 0 BB, 2K on 5 AB.

Phillies Drop 2nd Straight

The Phillies drop the second consecutive game during the Opening Day Series. However, this time the offense failed to do it's job behind good pitching.

SP - Nick Pivetta pitched: 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1K on 94 pitches. Pivetta was recorded with an L.

Rookie Update

2B - Scott Kingery had his first Major League Run and first Major League Hit. Kingery hit: 1 R, 1 H, 0 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K on 4 AB.

*the offense was non-existent.

A series to forget

The Phillies are off to a terrible 0-3 start as they are swept by the Miami Marlins. The Phillies, favored by most exports to win the NL East, is off to a rocky start on offense. It is still way to early to make assumptions, but starting in a hole is never the ideal situation.

Rookie Update

2B - Scott Kingery had 4 hits in tonight's game against the Marlins. Kingery hit 0 R, 4 H, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K on 4 AB.

Struggling offense

The only other offensive player to have a hit was Jefrey Marte. Marte hit 0 R, 2 H, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K on 4 AB.

Another decent Pitching outing

SP - Jake Thompson pitched 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 HR on 92 pitches. Thompson has given a no decision. Joely Rodriquez was recorded with the loss.

Maikel Franco also put up great numbers. Franco put up a 2 R, 2 H, 3 RBI game including 1 HR. This puts Franco up to 14 HR this season.

Finally, the Player of the Game has to go to Clay Buchholz. Buchholz put the first Phillies complete game shutout of the year going 9IP while giving up 7 H on 3 SO. Buchholz's contract is due to expire at the end of the 2017 season. The Phillies, who seem to be loaded with young pitching talent, do not necessarily have a place for the experienced vet. However, if Buchholz continues to be successful, his veteran presence might earn himself a new contract.

Buchholz said after the game: "It feels like things are finally starting to go our way."

Wow... looking back on this and its basically copy/paste from the real life start of Rhys Hoskins. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Yeah isn't it crazy. Hoskins on my File was nearly spot on. I think he is easily my favorite player right now for the Phillies. If he keeps hitting the ball like he has been he will be the next great Phillie or even National Superstar like the Trouts, Harpers, Giancarlos, Machados, or Bryants

Heisey to the Phills

Fans of the Philadelphia Phillies were confused this morning when ESPN broke the story that St. Louis Cardinals OF - Chris Heisey was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Heisey, a Pennsylvania native from Lancaster, is a power hitting Left Fielder who could also play in Right if needed. He has below average Contact and Gap Power, above average Home Run Power, slightly above average Eye, and average Avoid K's. Furtheremore Heisey has OK Speed and Base Running and and is a very good defensive player.

Heisey is expected to replace the struggling speedster Roman Quinn in the 4th OF spot. Likewise, the Phillies are extremely crowded with Outfield Prospects. Therefore, one can only speculate that moves will be made to acquire new talent. The Phillies desperately need pitching throughout the Organization.

In 2017, Heisey hit: 48 R, 82 H, 22 HR, 38 BB, 99 SO, .242 AVG, .325 OBP, 2.0 WAR, 9.8 BB%, 25.6 SO%, .251 ISO, .271 BABIP, and 116 wRC+ on 386 AB.

The Phillies give up low level Catching prospect C - Henri Lartique who is not projected to be a Major League prospect within the Organization.

This completes the goal of hiring a Local Player in my ownership goals.

Appel, Moniak traded to San Francisco

The Philliadelphia Phillies looked to move some of their large surplus of Outfielders to replenish their every growing pitching shortage.

Former First Round Pick, OF - Mickey Moniak (62 POT) and SP - Mark Appel (30 POT) go to the San Francisco Giants for Pitching Prospects SP - Logan Webb (44 POT), SP - Cobi Johnson (42 POT), and SP - Sam Carlson (39 POT).

This decision was difficult for the Phillies Organization and wish Mickey good luck in San Francisco. However, with an overflow of talent in OF, the organization felt this move helps address one of its problem areas in organizational depth.

Edit: Something happened with my save file. I lost 2 or 3 games and the trade. I am trying to see if I can re-work the same trade so that no progress is lost

New Deal

Phillies Send:
RF - Brandon Benson (29 POT)
RP - Gustavo Armas (20 POT)

Detroit Send:
CL - Jairo Labourt (41 POT)
CL - Gerson Moreno (41 POT)

End of April Update

The Philadelphia Phillies were off to a rocky start to start the season but turned things around as they enter May. Currently the Philadelphia Phillies are 13-12, good for 3rd in the NL East. Currently the Phillies are 2 games behind the Washington Nationals and New York Mets.

Where are the bats?

Last year's World Series run came on the backs on above average offensive play. This year, the Phillies are playing more like their projects as the numbers are falling off. Of course, it is too early to say that the offense will struggle to take off this season. However, the lack of offense has been significantly felt.

The following players are having slow starts:

Pitchers

SP - Jake Thompson - 27.2 IP, 4.88 ERA, 1-1 W/L, 2.9 HR/9, 2.9 BB/9, 5.5 K/9, 7.53 FIP, -0.6 WAR.

SP - Aaron Nola - 27.1 IP, 4.94 ERA, 1-1 W/L, 2.0 HR/9, 1.6 BB/9, 7.9 K/9, 4.98 FIP, 0.2 WAR.

SP - Trevor Oaks - 28.2 IP, 4.40 ERA, 2-2 W/L, 0.9 HR/9, 1.9 BB/9, 4.1 K/9, 4.94 FIP, 0.2 WAR.

SP / RP - Zack Eflin - 17.2 IP, 3.57 ERA, 2-0 W/L, 1.5 HR/9, 1.5 BB/9, 5.6 K/9, 4.98 FIP, 0.1 WAR.

Position Players / Hitting

C - Jorge Alfaro - 78 AB, .243 AVG, .256 OBP, 9 R, 17 H, 1 HR, 2 BB, 20 SO, 0.2 WAR, 2.6 BB%, 25.6 SO%, .122 ISO, .309 BABIP, 55 wRC+.

3B - Jefrey Marte - 96 AB, .219 AVG, .286 OBP, 8 R, 21 H, 3 HR, 6 BB, 27 SO, 0.0 WAR, 5.7 BB%, 14.8 SO%, .135 ISO, .273 BABIP, 75 wRC+.

OF - Odubel Herrera - 94 AB, .245 AVG, .260 OBP, 9 R, 23 H, 1 HR, 2 BB, 20 SO, -0.2 WAR, 2.1 BB%, 20.6 SO%, .064 ISO, .301 BABIP, 50 wRC+

OF - Aaron Altherr - 89 AB, .191 AVG, .247 OBP, 7R, 17 H, 4 HR, 6 BB, 32 SO, 0.0 WAR, 6.2 BB%, 33.0 SO%, .202 ISO, .241 BABIP, 68 wRC+

Rookie Power

1B - Rhys Hoskins has had an OK Start to his season but needs to improve his .AVG. While I don't really value Batting Average too much, I expect more out Hoskins after last season.

Hoskins hit: .200 AVG, .330 OBP, 14 R, 17 H, 4 HR, 15 BB, 33 SO, 0.2 WAR, 14.6 BB%, 32 SO%, .200 ISO, .265 BABIP, 98 wRC+.

2B - Scott Kingery has had a tremendous start to his young career with the Phillies. He has been the one bat that seems to stand out thus far. If his numbers stay consistent, he will definitely have a future with the team.

Kingery hit: .309 AVG, .343 OBP, 17, 29 H, 2 HR, 5 BB, 19 SO, 0.6 WAR, 5.1 BB%, 19.2 SO%, .117 ISO, .370 BABIP, 111 wRC+.

Problem in Outfield

Both Odubel Herrera and Aaron Altherr are off to extremely poor starts. Chris Heisey will be given a shot in Right Field while the other two try to figure out CF. With a large amount of talent within the organization, both players will need to continue to produce if they want to stay in the Majors.

Benches Clear, Punches Throw, Philles blow save

Punches were thrown after Michael Lorenzen gave up a two run shot in the Top of the 9th. Lorenzen has had a rough start to the season and was agitated after giving up the HR to the LA Dodgers.. He subsequently went after 3B - Justin Turner.

Had Lorenzen closed out the game, they would have won the series against the Dodgers. Both players will be suspended by the league for 3 games.

Would anybody be interested in a Detroit Tigers thread with the same basic format? I am thinking of rebuilding my hometown team. I usually watch the Phillies for the NL Rules and Strategy and either the Tigers or Yankees for AL Offense.
