Scouting Reports on "Impossible" Draftees
It'd be cool if requesting a scouting report on amateur draftees that are "impossible" to sign would give some sort of idea of how much money it might take, depending on how good your scout is. I just drafted two impossible guys, one wanted "significantly" more then $9,500,000 and the other "significantly" more then $3,000,000. That's quite a range. Say you have a player that needed $10 million to sign. If my scout had a "legendary" rating in amateur scouting, and I requested a scouting report, it would say something like "would require between 9-12 million to sign." I wouldn't get the actual number, but something close if my scout was good enough. The worse your scout is the less accurate your report gets.

if an impossible to sign player asks for 8,000,000 it will take around 12 million to sign them, so 1.5 of what they are asking to get signed. However, they don't tell you their asking price before you draft them.

Impossible should mean impossible.

"Impossible"
Rusty,
I respectfully disagree, around here we do the unlikely everyday, the miracles by the month and the impossible just takes a little longer! ![]() It's my alternative universe, it's OOTP baseball!!! |

Then don't call it Impossible.
Call it 'Very Unlikely' or something. Words have actual meanings.

I always thought "Impossible" simply meant that it was impossible for your team to sign the player at his asking price, not that it was impossible to sign him at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the way I've always looked at it, and it's worked well for me.

We'll have look at word choice, while preserving intention and meaning.

True. Right now, the different signability ratings don't seem to mean too much. I basically view it as the player will sign for his asking price or not. The asking price may just be a little (or a lot) over slot in he is Extremely Hard.

The one element to always look out for, and report if frequent, is a player drafted who does not honor his demand. Draft and Meet Demand 'should' mean just that. Any out of the ordinary negotiations should be very uncommon and within range of slot or of the player's demands.

I believe It was in the game before and was to easy to sign impossible signing players if you had a high draft budget or cash available. That is why I believe it was adjusted to say significantly more and no real quantity.
