Most Injured Player

Let me start by saying that despite what it's done to my CF, I like the new injury code. My CF has had a checkered past with injuries, getting about a half dozen injuries per season, and has a well deserved "Wrecked" injury status. But I think this year takes the cake, although given that he rarely fully is hurt, he still managed 400 PA on the season!

To add on to that, he's currently suffering from 3 DtD injuries:
Sprained Knee (sept 18, 3 weeks left, moderate running effect)
Strained hamstring (October 12, 7 weeks left, moderate running effect)
Back stiffness (October 13, 1-2 weeks, minimal hitting/moderate running effect)

So, do I keep him in my lineup or on my bench for the next playoff round, or is it time to tell him to go home and rest up?

Is there any data yet on how these D2D injuries affect the players in-game performance?

I sit some guys and play others but I only have a very small sample of maybe 200 games played with 18.

Obviously, he's going to be injured throughout the playoffs, but he's been up to the task so far this season, so I say ride it out. Use him if he's productive, sit him if he's not (maybe for a couple of games). I doubt sending him home for 1-2 weeks, hoping he will be injury free for the World Series, is going to get him healthy. Who knows, maybe he plays worse when he's healthy?

in the past there's a % value in the player editor with comissioner mode on. i'd assume it's still there... i know it's been re-worked in there to reflect the new system, i just haven't tinkered with it at all, yet. obviously not somethign to use when playing the game, but when dinking around in throw-away leagues it's nice to see what the verbage translates to, roughly.

i did notice there's a "move to injury history" button. that's quite convenient.

If it wasn't 2076 I would have guessed it was Byron Buxton.

I appreciate the consistency with the back stiffness.

I was going to agree with Danius until I remembered that he is already on DTD for the next several weeks. I was going to say go ahead and use him and get what you can out of his bat - he's moderately hampered but only in baserunning and he's only going to get another DTD even if you do rest him - but if he is already injured, and with his track record, you know that he's headed for "the big one" if you play him now. I think that's the way it works; if you play a DTD-injured player, the chances of him having another and more serious injury goes up.

Update: Decided to keep him around, but not play the field - just PH or DH (had extra bench spots in the post-season). His back stiffness cleared up, just in time for him to suffer a torn meniscus. Good news, he can still play through it! Although with a 5-6 month recovery timeframe on that, I'm thinking it's time to call it a season and I'll use someone else for the World Series. Final injury count on the season: 23

Now, just curious. Do you think that it because, in addition to being injury-prone, you were playing him while he's already DTD? That was my impression, particularly if he had 3 DTD's at one time. Plus, as I said above, are you not risking "the big one" as well by playing him when he's injured?

Yeah, I was risking it, for sure. And he got a 5 month "day-to-day" injury. Coincidence?

I'm getting a lot of play looks injured so the trainer comes out to check and the player continues playing. Never had that happen in previous versions of OOTP.

Yes, that's new in this version. People have complained that it's a bit too frequent. Fortunately, most of the time it's a false alarm.
