Confused by Corey Seager
The first 4 years he hit between .290 and .325 with 28-35 HRs. Suddenly, at 28, he lost all his power. He hit just 7 homers last year, and has only 2 at the AS break this year. His power ratings haven't dropped drastically. My scout had him at 81' now at 76. The league scouts had him at 65, now 58. His average has remained in the same area, but his power has totally disappeared. At 28!!! Something certainly seems wrong.

That is odd. Players dont typically lose thier power at the prime of thier careers especially without just starting to utterly suck.Closest MLB comparable ive been able to find is Mark Reynalds pre 28 was a 40 HR guy then post 28 dropped to about 20. Looks like he changed his approach and stopped striking out so much which is curious considering in doing so his slugging took a hit.
Anyway my guess in your case maybe he got injured at some point. Did something else change. Can we get a screen shot of his stat lines |

David Wright seems like another comparable. Going through the HR leaders list I am finding guys with declining power around 28-30 nothing really as extreme as 30HR guy to 7 though.

But do the power ratings mean nothing, then? The scouting report says he's a threat every time he comes up. Uh, not any more.

Most players generally play up to their ratings, but guys can have good or bad years or even multiple years where they either underperform their ratings or overperform them.

There is also fog in scouting, where, unless set to 100% accurate, it could take awhile for scouts opinions to change of a veteran. Especially one who has consistently performed to one standard for multiple years. TCR could have bit him too!

Turn off scouting. It was a half assed feature from years ago that was abandoned in a half assed state and never revisited.
Even with '100%' I have found that that it is not accurate. |

ratings have a direct causal relationship with results... it is literally how the game works! it's not magic. it never means more or less than what the code defines it as. don't get this confused with Overall or Potential... those are different.. they are not a real under-the-hood ratings... but!! it most definitely has a very stong correlation to results, nonetheless. back to OP: check scouting reports... either he dipped or bad luck... if that still doesn't make sense, look into league statistical environment... what's the slash? is it distinctly different than a few years ago? are HR greater than 10% +/- ? things like that it could have been a bad year too? my best guess: either a statistical shift in your league or the guy dipped a bit with ratings... otherwise, it's a short-term random bad luck result. Game doesn't recognize steroids. If you import the 50 homer Brady Anderson, you will get a massive power hitter that season.
