Hi every one, -> NEWB <- here.
Could someone direct me to the thread on this already. Why does the AI force ALL of your (non-active) 40-man roster player onto the Spring training roster? It seems to takes away an option from the Players minor years left, when I did not put them on my active roster, even my players who only have been in the rookie league for 3 years. I'm no longer able to send them back down to train up more. Why the hell is the AI doing this? Is the only way around this, is to remove all the non-active roster players after the season ends then add them back to the 40-man after spring training? |

Once a player is on your 40-man roster you have to burn an option to send them to the minor leagues. This happens whether they are on your spring training roster or not. Since this is the case, the game (rightly) just goes ahead and puts them on your spring training roster.
Here is a deeper dive of an explanation on Options: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/17188016// Last edited by Rain King; 07-01-2017 at 09:50 PM. |

A more accurate way to view rosters is that there is a 40 man roster. This consists of players with MLB contracts. This roster is shrunk down to 25 spots during most of the regular season.
It is easy to get caught up in thinking the 25 man roster is the rule when it is the exception. Options exist in MLB for a reason. You can turn them off if they do not fit the style of play you enjoy. Good luck, Tom (LP)
