The color of player rating numbers.
I've been playing OOTP since OOTP4 and for the life of me I can't recall what the significance is of the color of the player ratings. Red, Orange, Green, Blue, etc.
Also if I wanted to tone down the number of balks, which way would I adjust the modifier, higher or lower? Thanks |

Blue > Green > Yellow > Orange > Red
It's literally just an extra representation of the numerical rating. And turn the modifier down to reduce balks. |

~.501 works
balks don't really resolve much with the modifiers... there's probably 2-4 points at which it changes... i know of one and there is a large gap at least on the high side in which it does not change at all. (long-term results, not 1 season). .495 will be maybe a bit low and .496 will be a bit high (thereabouts... just do .495 and .501 to be safe and pick. (default modern settings for balks, not sure if other league configs matter, but there is consistently a specific demarcation line around there each time) just dink around there and it will be a noticeble jump beyond normal year-to-year fluctuation at a very specific point. choose above or below and that's really all you can do. the next point of change (modifier value) is likely too large or to small for results. in Troubleshooting of the main app settings you can go to the folder containing app.cfg and engine.cfg... you can further edit probability of occurence there, too... but wiser to just stick with ltm (maybe with balks ok, i'm going to test redicing a bit with the higher balk ltm results) it's really arbitrary though... the rate isn't that much higher and it's such a low occurrenc anyway (or if a bit below, same reasoning with common sense differences). |
