First Perfect Game
I don't usually make bragging-type threads like this, but I gotta share it with someone.
Early in the first season of play in my fictional league (fourth season overall, I wanted a tiny bit of history). I took over a team with relatively poor pitching, and to remedy that, I went out and signed THE premiere international free agent, this guy out of Japan, to the highest salary in league history. First inning of his first game in America, he lets up 4 runs. His second game was even worse, and his ERA was 8.18 a week into the season, and I'm pulling my hair out because he's signed to EIGHT FREAKING YEARS at the league's highest salary, and if he's not the savior of our pitching staff, I don't know what I'll do. Third start of the year, at home, he just shrugs off the first two starts and up and throws a perfect game. This is why I love both baseball and OOTP; the storylines that develop just from how the season plays out are a thing of beauty. I've only seen one no-hitter in my whole time playing OOTP, nevermind a perfect game, so this was especially exciting for me. |

With 11 strikeouts and still only 89 pitches?! That's insane.....

I like even more how you can try to read stuff into this. It looks like for the first few games, he was mostly hitting the strike zone. Those devastating curveballs of his weren't working, though. That means people were driving the ball off of him and scoring runs.
He started getting a little break in his curve ball, and suddenly no one can hit him. I hope you post the results of his next game. I'm curious. Why did he get pulled in his second start? |

![]() Updated game log is attached; he pitched extremely well the next time out. As for his second start, I mean, he gave up 6 runs in 6 innings on 103 pitches. There was no need to send him out for the 7th. |

It looks like the original history didn't go back that far. I was looking at the April 5 game where he gave up no runs and 2 hits in 4 innings. He only threw 76 pitches that day. It looks like he had a couple of decent games there on the 1st and the 5th where he was pulled early. I'm just curious to hear your thought process on that sort of situation.

EDIT: You know, maybe I'll go make a suggestion for Spring Training games to be differentiated in the game log. Last edited by Fyrestorm3; 06-23-2017 at 12:13 PM. |
