Is there a way to see how a player was acquired?

I'm trying to see how/when a player on my roster was acquired. For example, what year was he drafted and by which team?

The player history tab should have all that information

I had a player that apparently the same day he was drafted, he also hit for the cycle in the minor league game that night for me lol

Global Settings may hold the answer:

what do you set for Keep transaction, news , and the <3rd one?> on right pane of that screen?

if it's set to none or 2 years.. anything but "All", this will eventually happen. it's re-using message id's. it's not part of the historical db of league stats and such, though, no worries.

Other potential cause:

a restored backup... but one that has not remained untouched. e.g. if you click "backup" but choose a new directory, or had deleted the previous one that existed, the data copied will be missing any asthetic stuff from the previous backup.

a "full backup" is required anytime it's a new directory, previously deleted, or anything else similar that i am not thinking of.

as above, the league db is safe, regardless. it's just the asthetic stuff that can look screwy.

the normal "backup" function saves stuff incrementally... and stuff gets lost if not aware of how it works. as long as it's always backing up over the same exact data, all is good. (can change directory name or copy it etc.. that's fine... anytime it starts fresh, you need a full backup.)

i think "purging" the data base can have this effect, too. possibly if you use "delete players if they don't make the majors", but i'm not sure on that one. when you delete a player, they are not deleted from the database, merely not included in anything (retired/active, historical stats of league etc) So, their playerid is not being recycled, therefore no problems should occur.

when they are purged, this definitely happens (recycling of a unique ID)
