Player eligibility for playoffs
So my question is fairly simple, why is it that only players on the 25 man at the time of aug 31st are playoff eligible..? The official MLB rules state that players need only be on the 40 man by aug 31st, so I find it curious that OOTP does it differently. Really screwed me as I had a player on a rehab assignment that is now ineligible, and one that was temporarily sent down...
Is there a reason for this or am I just missing something? Thanks! EDIT: So further reading, I find articles that seem to contradict mlb.com... so I am curious what the official rules are and if / why the game is different. According to http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactio...on-eligibility , "Players must be on the 40-man roster, the 60-day disabled list or the bereavement/family medical emergency list as of midnight ET on Aug. 31 to be eligible for their respective clubs' postseason rosters" And it offers no further qualifiers. Is there more to it than that and for some reason they are not listing all the info? Last edited by JuJooGuppy; 06-15-2017 at 12:44 AM. |

Very much so. When I searched I came up with a couple threads that didnt quite explain it, but this appears to explain it, so thanks.

The rules (quietly, sort of) changed a few years ago. There's an option in the league settings whether eligible players should come from the 25 or the 40-man. And in both cases, players on rehab assignments should be eligible (however there was a bug that if a player was on the rehab assignment when the minor league season ended, then his status got reset accidentally).
I believe it should default to using the 40-man, if not please let us know. Sometimes the standard/quickstart games can get out of sync when rules change. |

Yeah, both my friend and I had it default to 25 man on us, but we started our game 2-3 patches ago roughly. At least one of us has the 40 man for playoffs this season, haha. I do appreciate the replies greatly, and continue to love this time eating game.... seriously, steam says 564 hrs logged (Though, there were many times I was afk with it running, to be fair. So probably can knock down a good 65+ hrs if not more.. lots of times I open it and get busy with other things) since roughly 4/8 of this year, lol.
It helps having a job where I can play it the entire shift, though lol. |

For the record, we both just did standard Challenge Mode starts, if that matters at all. Unfortunately, not in commissioner mode, so cant make the adjustment after the fact (Past sept 1st for one of us), but at least we know now.
