The up/down arrows

Heya!

Been playing the game for a couple months now. Enjoyable, but still pretty frustrating to deal with all the minor league stuff. Been reading alot of threads on what to do to help me get the minors to work out like they should, but I still have one lingering question which I don't think I've seen a clear answer for...

Is there a purpose for those green up and red down arrows? When I do use the "AI setup minor leagues", it moves alot of my unlocked players but I see a TON of red down arrows. I've even moved players to a level I felt their ratings fit in, but I get a red down arrow. I've only used that option once as I'd rather deal with it myself, but should I be concerned for all the red down arrows I see?

Straight from the developer!

I personally still never pay any attention to the arrows when moving players up or down since I don't trust the AI's judgment over my own.

99% ignore them... if it coincides with multiple other similar positive signs, i may look into the player for inaccurate scouting or bump them up a level and see what happens etc...

scouting is way better as they play in a league closer to the ML-level. many times the drop in potential in the minors isn't TCR but inaccurate scouting. as they go from rookie to aa and 70's/80 to 30s/80, that's all they were all along...happens the opposite way too...

an arrow does not signify this nor correlate well... but a green arrow plus dominant stats plus ... plus... together starts to get less random, but still low %. imo, if it ekes out at least a player or 2 per decade i would normally miss, it's worth it.

I use the green arrows as an indication to look at the player closely and think about his most appropriate level. I use the red arrows when I am looking for players to demote or release.

I use them as a very, very loose way to judge players.
I agree 100% with the other guys.
Use them as a way to see who might be too high or too low in your minor league system.
Overall, use your best judgment by looking at their stats IMO.

I take it as a scout recommendation. 'Hey, they guy may be able to play at the next level.'

I inquired about the assessment's origin several years ago. While the answer was a vague one, either evasive or ambiguous at best, I recall walking away with a feeling that they were inspired by the coaching staff at that level, rather than a team scout. Hence, it's easier to see why one level takes a position of 'move him up,' only to find the receiving level respond with 'I don't think he's really ready.' Right or wrong, that's still the working impression I carry with me on my quick looks at those highlighted evaluations. Just one more factor to consider among many.
