Overdrafting

Anybody have any tips on how to avoid overdrafting? I ended up drafting a guy that wanted a $300,000 bonus first overall and I'm sure I could have waited until at least the second round for him

Then don't draft him.

Sorry that seems flippant but I don't really understand the question. You control what you do.

maybe someone else drafts him if you had waited just 1 round, too... so, it comes down to risk...

how well rated was he? how many well-rated prospects are onthe board still? etc etc... weigh the information you have access too and compare with relative experience and go from there.

it's impossible to know how all the various teams view any 1 player... OSA and your scout will help, obviously... but, there are a wide range of scouting inaccuracy, scouting ability and budgets per team...

above all else, make sure you get the ones you want... i'd rather occasionally get them early than miss out... (i'd err on that side for sure, maybe you feel differently, then take a few more risks on waiting than you do now... slowly adjust whichever way you want).

In my opinion, just pick the best guy and don't worry what other people think of him.

I draft guys like that all the time and when I negotiate with them I give him what he is asking for. If I think he is the guy I want then I darft him and save money.
