Occasional crash when closing
Every now and then the game crashes when I'm closing the app just as it gets to 100% saving. I don't see anything wrong when I restart, but maybe there is something wrong I don't notice?
This has been happening with the last few patches/hotfixes, but I don't have repeatable repro steps. |

Usually when the game crashes it starts up differently. Is there visual representation of the crash that you could take a screenshot of?

I'll get a screenshot next time it happens, but if I recall there isn't much to see. Are the crash reports that Windows collects used at all?

When the game crashes the next startup usually starts with a message. Are you sure it's crashing and what tells you that it is.

See this. About 0.25 sec after this the game closed. If the game crashes something else must happen I think.
I used PrtScn

Can you try doing the following to generate a trace file and then send it to me via a support ticket? Thanks!
Open the game and click on Settings Now click on the Troubleshooting tab. Finally, click the drop-down menu that says "Don't write OOTP debug info to file". Change it so that it will be "write OOTP debug info into file". Click OK and then exit the game. Once Trace Mode has been enabled, follow these steps to generate a trace file: Launch OOTP. You may receive a pop-up saying that Trace Mode is enabled, and that performance may be slower than normal. Perform whatever steps are required to cause your problem to occur (or perform whatever steps OOTP Developments has suggested). Quit OOTP (if it hasn't crashed). [If it didn't crash, then the log won't be helpful for troubleshooting crash problems (but may be helpful for other problems). In that case, there's no need to send us the trace log if you're troubleshooting a crash problem.] Open the game and click on Settings (or Preferences in older versions). Now click on the Troubleshooting tab. Open the folder called "debug". Finally, find the file called "ootp_trace.txt" and attach that to your ticket. To disable Trace Mode, simply reverse the steps above. It's important to disable this since the game will run slower with trace mode enabled.

Thanks Lukas. Since this doesn't happen all the time, it could go quite a while without crashing. Is it okay to leave the trace mode enabled that long? Should I periodically clear it out or delete the file?

It's ok, but it will definitely slow down your game. So depends on how much the crash bothers you as opposed to the slower play...

Okay, the game finally crashed again since I reported this and I had the trace turned on. I will open a ticket and attach the log file.
