Who sucks the most?
I want to start w/ the worst team in the NL; a combo of existing big league talent, bad contracts and weak prospects. I started w/ the Reds, but with the latest patch, I want to reconsider, so I'm open to suggestions....so, who sucks the worst:
-Philly -Atlanta -San Diego -Cincy -Milwaukee PS...it's fun to have interesting players on the ****ty team, such as the super fast billy hamilton |

The Padres are always hard as hell to work with, because the owner is super cheap. I was running a year where I went 72-90 and met all of his goals and he still dropped the budget by about $7M. If you're looking for a great challenge with some interesting prospects in the pipeline, San Diego is the way to go.

The Miami Marlins.
-Existing big league talent: The Marlins have Stanton, Ozuna, Yelich, Dee Gordon -Bad contracts: Giancarlo Stanton is locked up through 2027. -The 29th best farm system according to Keith Law -The team itself is in last place and hasn't finished with a winning record since 2009 |

To help you out, Marlins. It's a terrible situation.
Also, this has little to nothing to do with helping you make your decision but in the interest of making sure it's never forgotten I will also add that the owner is an UNBELIEVABLE d-bag. |

I think the Marlins have more big league talent than the Padres, and the Marlins' assets are relatively young .
Neither has much of a farm system to speak of. the Padres' pitching is atrocious. I'd have to vote for the Padres

Padres for sure. Although I always contract the Marlins in my MLB quickstarts. Guess I just like watching SD suffer. Maybe you can rebuild them and play my beloved Tigers in the WS again, replay of '84!

Florida had the worst owner in the league... hopefully the game was kind in making the new one a bit less stingy.
which has worse long-term contracts and which has the worst MiL... i'd go by # of 'better' prospects not overall depth of MiL... average mlb players are dime/dozen. both have to be terrible, lol. |

Yes, yes, I'm sorry. I really do like the Padres, great uniforms! And pitching to Gibby when he could walk him?.....Priceless!

Phillies, hands down. Any seaon except for a couple. Right now, they're atrocious. Lifebuoy couldn't help them.
For some real good fun, take the 1961 Phillies. You may need a psycho analyst by time the season's done. ha ha lol Remember, this is the franchise that lost over 10,000 games. Update: Phillies have 15 wins, the worst record in baseball. On pace to go 56-106 and getting slammed by the Rockies. When announcer John Kruk is the Phillies highlight, you know things are bad. lol Last edited by zappa1; 05-24-2017 at 09:22 PM. |

OK, I simmed 3 seasons, 3 times each, and the Marlins took the title for ****tiest. They do have a blend of bad contracts too. So, the plan it to take them over, trading on hard / favor prospects, house rule is 1 waiver pickup and 1 trade per month limit.
Looks like I can move Yelich and Wei Yin Chen to Tex for Joey Gallo and Alex Claudio, which removes a ton of future salary. |

trust the ratings on the established international free agents... they rock this year. it's almost 1/year that's quite awesome.. and when the contract make sense it's easy to pull the trigger.
if you have a hard cap on the international ama. free agents, make sure you keep plugin away on the expensive ones, then sign 2-3 that fit under the cap when the email indicates the ones you think are more highly rated will sign elsewhere. go for quantity once the quality is gone. if no hard cap... well there's your other easy source of talent. unless you have a big payroll, spend excess budget space on these guys -- pick and choose based on what you see or simply every other year. you won't have to trade (much, certainly nothing near 1/month) or even glance at waiver wire

In my experience with the game, Miami are not only the worst performing team, but the team with the least cause for hope. I've had saves where they've gone 8+ years without a winning record. The ownership is godawful, you can't sign anyone because you have to pay Stanton, the farm system is barren... it's hard to imagine a worse team. At least with the Reds you've got no real financial woes and your farm is promising. San Diego are similar to Miami but at least they're fixable (the AI have made them into a playoff team a few times in a relatively short span in my games). With Miami you've got nothing now, nothing in the future and no money to spend on anything. |
