So ya, my FA pool ends up with about 2k players in it every year

I end up going in and having to delete about 1500 players or so. I assume this is a result of my having a draft that's too big?

I have the major leagues, AAA, AA, A, R, HS, College. leagues, and I think a short season league. # of rounds set to 5.

How can I cut this down?

Similarly I believe when I created my league I told it to create too many international FA. Now I have too many FA. I can't find where to change this setting post creation? Perhaps this may be one issue for you, too.

If you only have a 5 round draft eventually the unsigned players will get pared down. A lot of players will retire if they sit out a full season too.

I created a fictional independent league where they could play in the meantime when I was faced with a similar situation.

Yeah in my experience when some of these guys go unsigned for a while they usually will retire which should thin the free agent pool out. Another option would be to create some independent leagues so they can suck up some of these dudes as well..

so, you have feeders + a 5 round draft ?

add draft rounds... sounds silly but here's why...

i don't see the fix listed in this patch, and this is defintiely a problem right now -- mil teams are not signing mil FA... are your mil teams filled with enouhg players and of each position? -- not just ~25, especially your lowest mil league. if so, this will defintieyl help... if not, it may not, but worth a try. (yours if you delegate that to teh Asst. GM and AI teams)

so, if they get drafted, they are WAY more likely to be used. otherwise, it would take a likely severely decreased probability of developing as a FA and just as likely a 20/80 guy will gut hit with the TCR in FA and become viable, lol....

don't add too many... if you only have 1 layer of mil's R->AAA, you may only need 15-25roungs tops... start adding service time limits and it gets a bit more complicated (ignore feeders, that's different concept about providing right # to draft / year)

if you use time limits, approach it logically... e..g i have 2yrs for R, so i need enough players every 3 years from teh draft to supply that team -- and cover for the AI... ie 35+ players is a good average for 1 Rookie league (35-50, 40+ being better)... as you add extra, i'd go by a 35+30x (at least upto 4 rookie leagues, not sure beyon that..may need more) for a goal for total #'s needed for all rookie leagues relative to any service time or age requirments (age is much messier proposition).

^^^^^ Yep ^^^^^

Last night I go through all minor leagues adding catchers. I had leagues going without catchers for 2 seasons, at least. I have 130 FA catchers.

I also have in total 1706 FAs, and many minor league teams with empty rosters.

Or IA GMs filling up teams with 28 pitchers, and having pitchers field and bat in place of fielders.

until it's fixed, up # of rounds... no worries if some teams have what looks to be "too many" that's really never a problem except for the human eye. (my preference is to avoid it too... but i know it's irrational to anything important)

all that matters is the teams that have the least... Do they have enough to get by? if yes, all is good. don't let the team with the least drop too low -- (which team that is changes over time)

Has this been reported? It seems to be a very serious issue to me.
