Overall, I'm excited about this team. The rotation has potential to be something special. The fielders have potential to be good. The bullpen is going to be a problem (again) unless a few surprises crop up. There is no reason to panic about the bullpen (it is only five games in), but I think every pitcher in the bullpen should be on a short leash.

I feel bad for Ausmus that he has been handed such a poor bp to work with and for Al Avila that he inherited a team, minors system, and payroll that has not really allowed him too much room to fix that bullpen.

Is the lighting broken at Comerica? I checked MLB.com today and it lists all day games through Thursday for the Tigers. I have never seen a 3-game series played entirely in daylight.

Not that I am complaining, although by Tuesday I will have seen more of the *Twins* than of my Mets.

It's the smart move due to Michigan's crazy weather. At least if it freezing out during the day you have the hopes that the sun will at least make things bearable. At night all bets are off. Plus, day games give them more to play with if it's raining or snowing at game time.

The Tigers ALWAYS play pretty much all home games in the first week, sometimes 2 during the day, simply because of the unpredictable April weather. They figure 1 it's warmer at 1 than at 7 and 2 if there's rain in the area it gives them all day and all night to get the game in.

I can't say for sure just how long they've done it, but I remember it happening basically every since since at least 06.

Wow, a real gem from Boyd. Love seeing them take a low scoring game!

A little stress in the ninth but hats off to a bullpen that has looked good for a few straight games.

Fulmer was really something once he found a groove

And yet again it's one of the role players with the big at bat that makes the difference!

I have no doubt that Miggy and Victor will start hitting soon, and JD seems on his way back. It's great to know the pitching and the lesser bats are getting us off to a great start, hopefully it bodes well for when the stars start performing.

Ugh! What's up with Zimmermann's control? 5 walks.

Who is that guy impersonating a big league pitcher? Looks like he stole Sanchez' uniform.

Nope, Sanchez brought his own stink to the game in relief.

Oh and I see Juston Upton hit a home run. As usual, it's a meaningless one. Wanna bet he strikes out 6 times over the weekend with men on base? Do just enough to get paid.

It is amazing to me how one team can have a pitcher's number so regularly. Career-wise, Verlander has done great against most teams, but Cleveland... Hmmm?

Our return from the Price trade is REALLY starting to look good! Really like what I've seen from Boyd after his rough first start. 12+ innings of 1 run ball out of our 5th starter? That'll do just fine.

Say what you will about Dombrowski and the way he handled our minor league system, but his last gift to us wound up being 3/5 of our current rotation and what looks to be 3 building blocks for the next few years.

Do closers exist that don't induce heart palpitations? I'd like one of those, please.

Tough one to lose last night after battling back from down 5-1, The first inning was a disaster from the very first batter. Then you get a gift when Nick's shot gets past one of the games best centerfielders to take the lead, only to have the bullpen barf it up again.

I'm hoping Iglesias wasn't hurt during that last play. Very uncharacistic mistake for him (at least for the throw to be THAT far off) and his fall didn't look good. Maybe it was just a minor thing and a lot of embarrassment, but I'm holding my breath until I see him in the lineup.

Wish our closer hadn't put us in that spot to begin with, but I'm taking a little bit of solace knowing that DP is turned 99 times out of 100 with Ian and Jose, and if if he doesn't trip over 2nd we win that game. Hard for me to even give KRod TOO much blame on that, because he did what he had to to get out of the jam (that he caused, but whatever lol). That's just one of those fluke deals that happens once every few seasons.

Time to rebound and at least get one in Tampa and then go beat up on our punching bags in Minnesota.

Yahoo says Jose is being evaluated for a concussion?

Wouldn't surprise me, at first I thought he landed awkwardly and was worried about his knee but watching him walk off the field a little woozy but no noticeable limp makes that less likely.

I think when he fell the baserunner basically kneed him in the jaw. Concussions aren't exactly anything to mess around with, but if that's "all" it is then we'll be fine. Can't afford to lose our shortstop for more than a week or 2.
