I have many many alternate jerseys and ballcaps for the 79 leagues and over 650 teams I have in my saved_game universe. I use a custom folder to pull all of my logos, jerseys and caps from. My question is - how do you name all the jerseys and caps alternates so that the game will automatically load them once in awhile?
By default they (jerseys, for example) are named like this? jerseys_chicago_cubs_home jerseys_chicago_cubs_away That is how to name them for your default home and away cap and jerseys sets. How do you do it for the alternate caps and jerseys? Like this (Again, using jerseys for the example) ?? jerseys_chicago_cubs_home_alt1 jerseys_chicago_cubs_home_alt2 jerseys_chicago_cubs_away_alt1 jerseys_chicago_cubs_away_alt2 and so on..... OR like this - jerseys_chicago_cubs_alt1 jerseys_chicago_cubs_alt2 and so on.... |

I use the same naming convention you do, alt1, alt2 etc. Nothing fancy, it works. Getting the game to load them (alts) automatically is a different kettle of fish. I haven't figured that out but it's not a big deal.
Making jerseys, caps, and logos is part of the fun of the game, IMO. If you're like me, you're always on the lookout for new better fonts or anything else to make jerseys. When I make a real historical or a fictional and I'm able to get the outcome I wanted while employing every paint trick I know I'm like, "Yeesssss"

So, even if all my caps/jerseys are in my own custom folder in the 'saved_game.lg' folder, they still must use the 'caps' and 'jerseys' naming convention like this - jerseys_chicago_cubs_home? It can not be - chicubshome1, chicubsaway1, etc., etc.? The "caps" and "jerseys" MUST be present in the naming convention?
If I understand correctly, having the caps/jerseys in front of the team name (along with the underscoring) and nickname is how the game loads them automatically. What I am wondering is if using the 'alt', alt1, alt2 naming method will the game recognize those as alternates or if using alternates you will just have to select those uniforms manually. |

Well, I had thought that just maybe OOTP could go by the number after the 'alt' on the caps/jerseys string. For example 'alt1', 'alt2', 'alt3', etc. No biggie, really. Just wondering. The reason WHY I wanted to know is because I wanted to know if I had to go through every team jerseys (or caps) and rename them. But if the game does not load different/alternate caps or jerseys, but only the ones named accordingly (caps_chicago_cubs_home, for example) then it will save me a ton of time not renaming all of them, and I'll just select manually.
Thank you for the replies. Very appreciated. Last edited by vulcan4; 04-06-2017 at 11:23 AM. |

I look having to manually load the price to pay for having multiple jerseys for the same team.

This may or may not do anything for you (
) but, I was turned onto Bulk Rename Utility that allows you to quickly and easily rename tons of logos, caps, and jerseys.

What about having subfolders under your main jerseys, logos, and ballcap folders with what you want to load and then under the database tab have the game point to those folders? Would that work?

That may work, yeah. I am actually going to create a folder for each team (yes, each team in my universe) for alts - both caps and jerseys. A LOT of work, yeah, but that's just the way I am, lol.

If you're going to do all of that, it might just be easier to load the jerseys and caps manually.

You can't point to all those teams, though. It's global so I would create a folder called alts jerseys, put that in the "jerseys" folder, and have the game point to it. Then, all the alt jerseys would load for every team. You can do that under "ballcaps" too with a folder called "alt caps".
