Fan Interest Issue - Online League

Had a quick question for the community. I play in an online league, currently using 17, we update every couple seasons.

Right now, Fan interest is driving most the league completely insane. It used to have some rhyme and reason to it (although for many of us, we feel its one of the weakest parts of the game, nothing more frustrating than losing 7 points because your extremely popular AA RP with horrid ratings is released).

Anyway....

During the FA period (and for MOST of the year) when a team signs or trades for a very popular/extremely popular player, there is no change to FI. However, when a team has a player signed away or dealt away that is very popular/extremely popular, there is a crash of points.. The decline makes sense, but the lack of increases seems to be very strange, as this was not previously the case.

Is this a change to 17, or do we have something going on? anyone else experience this?

Most importantly is that at the end of that second link, Lukas pledges that it "Should" be fixed for 18.
