Can I have historic players?
I run a fictional league and I'm wondering is there a way to get historical player to pop up in drafts? I thought this was a option that I saw once, but I don't see this, so maybe I was dreaming.
Just wondering. I like the idea of one day I look at my incoming draft class and see George Herman Ruth. |

The option is still there under league settings>options about 1/3 of the way down on the left. "automatically import real historical rookies" and "use random rookies from all era's." I checked and the choice is there even in a fictional league.
It is an all or nothing selection though. It will fill the entire draft with these players. If you just want a few players like Ruth you should do like actionjackson said and import individuals. |

I have those checked but still have real guys like Seth Beer or fictional people that I don't mine having but would also like Historical guys to. Iv'e had Mike Trout as a Rookie but had disable signing Draft Picks from a League from a 2016/17 League feeder it into my league for that to happen and do Draft in Offseason.

Player IDs are in the Master.csv file (MiLBMaster.csv for Negro league and minor league players) in your stats folder. Most, if not all, of the MLB player IDs are the same as the ones used by Baseball Reference. The year on that screen refers to the season you want to use, so if you want to import Ruth as a rookie you would change it to 1914.

Generally for MLB guys, the playerID is pretty simple: first five letters of last name, followed by first two letters of first name, followed by two digit numeric code. Where it gets tricky is when there are a lot of guys with the same letter codes, but they will usually have unique numeric codes that separate them from each other. As dewelar said, use the Master.csv file inside your stats folder to track them down and make sure you have the player that you want to import, and put the first year that is listed (1914 for Babe Ruth, or even 1913 if your draft takes place the year before the player is to debut - and for most of us with December drafts that is the case).
