I unretired a 60 year old former player for fun, and then this happened

I unretired this former MVP, because I thought it'd be funny. He ended up going deep in his return to the Majors. I didn't edit his ratings at all.

AND he still has Iron man status for injuries. Sounds like you're a brilliant GM with a fantastic find!!!

Reminds me of Minnie Minoso's brief returns in the seventies and eighties.

I'm shocked he still has a rating at LF, forget his base running and K-Rate stats.

Did he spend the last 30 years at a hidden monastery training?

Curious what happened to his career from 34-38 and then 38-51?

Bouncing around the minors, probably.

I'm more curious on how a player is an MVP, ROY, All Star, and a SS one year, but is then a bench player for the next three years before falling off the map.

Did he just get injured so bad? He's an Iron Man

I unretired him twice earlier - once at age 32 (thinking he retired a little prematurely even though his MLB career went south), once at 45 (for fun). He had a massive rookie year where he won the MVP and then just crashed. Here's his full year-by-year stats and complete history:

So many retirements and returns, who does he think he is, Rodger Clemens?

well, that guy got hit by the ugly TCR stick or something.

i'm not sure, but i've seen it alot more with early to mid 20's players having massive drops in talent... could jsut be bad luck at this point though. (more likely that)

if that reiterment thing was real, then i'd post that in bugs and play devil's advocate for them to look into it. although if it's inconsequential to the overall league, nevermind. (as in is it a viable player? are they still young? blah blah... who cares if they are washed up and unretire 50times... they still won't be important... but any other situation is a real problem.)

I remember Jake Trotsky. He was part of a young group of players that they say revolutionized the game. His career may have turned out a lot different and not had the early exit if not for his feuds with his teammate Darren Stalin. Trotsky was said to be the better ballplayer, but Stalin was much better at the business side of the game. Though they worked well together as rookies, eventually Stalin and Trotsky couldn't share the spotlight, and Stalin had him exiled from the Dodgers a few years later, effectively putting an ice pick in his career.

FWIW the initial retirement and I believe his first 2 returns to the Majors were played in OOTP 17.

I remember that team and season. Seems like 100 years ago. Unfortunately neither Stalin nor Trotsky read CLR James' book on cricket, Beyond a Boundary. It would have helped.

I believe the first retirement was because he was overcome with grief following the death of his beloved pet pig, Snowball.
