Have you managed to get it to work for you yet Jeff1787?

Not yet...I just downloaded the game yesterday and will work on it next week using the settings that you and Spritze suggested. I completely deleted the early release of the game to get a clean start. I will let the game run for 5 years and post the results.

Keep us informed on how it goes because that would be a truly random debut historical game that you could carry on for much longer than the standard historical random debut league with 33,013 players to draw from instead of 18,918.

I've tried two Historical leagues in the new OOTP 18 using the random rookie draft function. I started in 1961 and again in 1951 using the Spritze High School data base for OOTP 17. It doesn't seem to work. The Inaugural draft went OK both times, but there were no players listed for the Amateur draft. I left the Amateur draft date set at the games default date.

Some how the game isn't picking up players for the Amateur draft from Spritze's DB.

I am going to give up for now with using the Spritze DB and just start a Historical league with the game's default DB and figure out a way to manually and randomly draft Asian and Negro League players.

Has any Spritze DB ever worked from a previous version of OOTP with the latest version?

It worked fine with OOTP 17. However, Spritze upgraded his database at that time, so I assume it will work for OOTP 18 when he again updates it.

Oh crap. It appears the draft issue that cropped up in OOTP17 is back. See this thread and let me know if that's similar to what you're seeing in your game. I believe sprague used the default database though so it's not necessarily a database thing. If it's a bug it needs to be reported, so it can (hopefully) be squished.

Please also see this thread and make sure that the setting in question is setup the way you need it to be. It sounds like you're not getting fictional players though, so that's a start.

Well, I tried it again and double and triple checked all of the settings using Spritze's database. This time it was all fictional players in the amateur player draft!!

I am giving up for now until Spritze upgrades his DB...and I hope he does eventually, but I know it is a lot of work....

Problem is I think sprague used the default database for his game, so it doesn't appear to be database dependent.

I used spritze 17. The default stats db works fine I think.
So i might use the default db, and then bring in the players from the spritze db that I want....

That's what I intend to do as well.

I was unable to import from Spritze's database when I had the default DB loaded. Not sure how to do it.

Extract the "SpritzeHSforOOTP17" folder from the .zip file to your "stats" folder so that it's embedded in your "stats" folder. This ensures that it won't get overwritten every time the game is updated with a patch. It also makes it easy to find. If you haven't got it in your stats folder, you should still be able to navigate to it because it is somewhere on your computer. It's just easier to navigate to if it's embedded in your stats folder. Use the Import Historical Player(s) tool. Get inside the SpritzeHSforOOTP17 folder and click on historical_database.odb. Using the master.csv file locate the appropriate player ID code and enter it where applicable. Enter the year you want to bring the player in. Select whether you want the player in the draft pool, Real/Neutralized Stats, what you want Potential Ratings based on and so on and so forth. Click on Import Player(s) button and your player should import.

I was unable to get Spottswood Poles (Poles049Spo) to import properly from the Spritze 17 database. He arrived, but his stats did not. Then I noticed on the line below him in the master.csv file that Spotswood Poles was there with a different player ID (polessp00 - same guy, different ID). This time it imported Poles and his RL stats and his FaceGen even set up properly, as you can see in the pic below. He wants $240,000 as a free agent in 1882 Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Thanks, so you have a stats folder (Spritze) within the game stats folder?

Thanks for info on Poles.

That's how I do it. It's easier to do that way. So my game stats folder has a SpritzeHSforOOTP17 folder at the top of it and then the 4 .odb files followed by the 7 .csv files. Whenever a patch happens, it will overwrite the default database files, but not my Spritze files.

Man oh Man. I've read through this whole post seeing if there was a way to import everyone through random historical by starting a 1901 league without minors ( or even historical minors leagues). Got my hopes up then dashed, up again, and finally dashed. So it seems that you can't have any of the historical minors or negro league players random debut without the spritze db unless you import manually. Correct? So I downloaded SPritze DB 17, read a few more posts, and found out it doesn't work with 18 and everyone is looking for the 16 version? So, if I have this right (my head hurts, lol) then it probably is best to wait for Spritze to put out his ver 18 in a few months once the dust settles?
