Historical League/ Why are fictitious players showing up

Started a league in 1956, and after the season ended, I noticed a ton of free agents listed, with most being fictitious? Many from other countries including Japan, and I don't have any Japanese league in this game. Planned on adding the Nippon league in 1950. There are also quite a few from the US. And if I choose the ghost player option to fill out rosters in the minors, I can't choose, don't allow fictitious players to make it to the majors? Not sure what to do here.

I always have someone show up that is playing out of position. Last game(OOTP17) Chris Chambliss played non-stop second base . This game(OOTP18) Rico Carty is a catcher.

Rico Carty started out as a Catcher for my home town team. So I would not be as surprised as you are.

See this thread. Post #20 by RMc struck me as remarkably similar to your post here. Perhaps correcting the setting being discussed in this thread can fix your issue. Worth a shot IMHO.

Yes, as I just mentioned to that guy:

Look at my OP (in that thread which aj linked to). The next time you are in preseason, take a look for that option to Disable Automatic creation of Free Agents (it may not be showing if you have an Amateur Draft in effect - unclick it temporarily). You want that option to be CHECKED.
