How to properly set up a big tournament

So here's what I have going. I created a 50 team USA Baseball Classic. One team from each state who can only pull in players from their state. That is set up nicely. I then made 4 divisions. 2 with 13 teams each and 2 with 12 teams each. Now here is where I ran into problem. I wanted to have each team play 12 games each. From there the top 4 teams in each division would then go on to a tournament style elimination. I have number of games per team set to 12 and number of calendar days set to 13 (didn't know what to set this to). So when the season should have started it just skipped the regular games part and went straight to the playoff tournament mode. Any idea what I did wrong? Took me a long time to set this all up and I'm pretty bummed.

I had a similar problem. After trying a number of things, I determined that the game won't create a schedule for divisions with odd numbers of teams in them. You may need to have a 14 team division and three 12 team divisions to get what you want.

How do you save as a template. Can I do that from inside my league? Can't seem to find the option. Thanks.

Drop Hawaii and Alaska and have a nice 4 division 48 team tournament.

Or combine states (ex: Carolinas & Dakotas) and there you go.

That was it guys. The damn odd number of teams in a division. Just did the 14/12/12/12 set up and schedule generated just fine.

Got another question. Wanted to do a 20 team Olympic set up. Took the template they had, added another division, and added the extra teams to make two 10 team divisions. Then I set it to automatically select teams by nation talent. When it came around to start it had the original nations and then a bunch of random teams who didn't follow any kind of selection process. Any ideas on that?

Sorry if these are noob questions. I'm am really digging the turnoment ability this year and just want to get it right. Thanks in advance.

I did a 50 state league North and south, I could not get to 162, so I set it to 150 and got 144 any other combination seemed to not work to give all teams the same games. Solution is either drop teams or drop games or set it to more games and see if it works.

In game settings. Drop click box on right. Same place as where you set up a new tournament.
